Size 12, blue, in great condition. My uncle Vincent's original pair. They're in storage. I haven't been able to fit them since high school, when I jumped up to size 15. They have a lot of sentimental value.

1988 the Greatest Year in Hip Hop. Taped damn everything off 1580 KDAY, Bobby Jimmy(Russ Parr) morning show with him baggin on callers and imitating Magic's voice "Coop a thug". Lost my mind when I first heard Follow The Leader and ask the DJ at the 6th grade dance to put it on...took a few but he put it on and I felt like King hearing it over the loud speakers. From Ice T, NWA to King Tee, LA Hip Hop was blowing up and going to my first Hip Hop show...The Dope Jam Tour at the Universal Amphitheatre.

Me and my boys riding our bikes around the corner(Marburn) to get a glimpse of Regina King coming outside and her homegirl Pebbles...redbone with the green eyes. Block parties on Marburn and playing ball at 54th St School tryin to dunk on 8ft rim. Playing in the gully behind Charlene Dr. and gettin my azz whooped for going there. Bruce who drove the ice cream pullin up in the summer while we're all playing caroms at 54th St School. Seeing Coming to America 3 times in the movies and trying to tape Yo MTV Raps. Me and boy trying to clap nonstop(superstitious) for the Lakers doing the last 5 mins of Game 7 vs the Pistons.

Kids rockin Le coq Sportif, Lottos, X man's Spot Bilt, Jordan 3, Worthy's New Balance, Nike Delta Force, Elleese, Magic's Weapons and etc.

LL Cool J was supposed to show up at the Fox Hills Mall for the Grand Opening of the Troop store and didn't show. Bloods and Crips started acting a fool...remembers fools falling down escalators near Buster Browns. Moms didn't let me go at that far without supervision for a while:damn:

All and all 1988 was start of me growing up and seeing the world just a little bit different than I did in 87...plus Hip Hop was putting out Classic albums right and left while Lakers and Dodgers were :win:ing

This was big in LA in 88...Super Socko and Gin...I fin Act A fool

I was on that shyt heavy....and i noticed...they live underground.

:ohhh:

I had an all black chow at the time that liked to dig around in the backyard, the nikka gave me an idea (it was his fault). I started digging too, looking for my lil homiess. Mama came home and saw what was going on and beat me within an inch of my life.

9 and 10 years old. Michael Jackson is the king. Vanity, Paula Abdul and Karyn White are my crushes. Homebody. Used to go in pops closet to look at his Playboys and Penthouse mags. Fresh was the Source, Black Beat was Vibe and Right On was XXL. Posters on my wall included Paula Abdul, The Boys, DeBarge, MJ, Luther Vandross.....

COPs and TMNT were my favorite cartoons. Hot 97 was a dance station. Bobby Brown was killing the game. Kiss FM is where you tuned in for Hip Hop on Friday nights. Video Music Box introdcued me to Hip Hop.

I still say " It Takes Two" by Rob Base and EZ Rock was the Hip Hop anthem of 1988.

1988 is hands down one of my favorite years, especially for Hip Hop. In 88 cursing on records was rare so when u heard it, it was a big thing. Unlike now were cursing is the norm. LL was the hip hop king but Slick Rick came out of no where and made a lot of noise. Run DMC were still doing there thing but Rakim , PE, Big Daddy Kane and BDP were the new kids on the block killing it.
