Wish aliens would drop by and i'd hop in their spaceship and cruise around space scoping planets bumping

a different way of thinking about it -
The Astounding Fact About The Universe - Neil Degrasse Tyson - YouTube
reminds me of this vid by Alan Watts
i don't know if this necessarily makes us small more than it makes us unique. because, to date, there still has not been any discovery of a species as complex as the human being. why, in this staggeringly vast universe, does there exist men who can feel emotions and interpret the sciences on such a scale as we do? in this "insignificant" world of ours, we have created a civilization that is rather impressive in its scope, one that continues to grow and will eventually - should mankind not become extinct - expand to other worlds. an argument can be made, in fact, that human beings are the most special creation in this universe of ours.
i do agree that we are special in that our planet was one chosen to host life but just the size of the universe says theres's millions if not billions of other civilizations with intelligent life.
my theory is theres a teeming intergalactic community all around us, but we aren't yet scientifically advanced enough to join. maybe in a few thousand years when we prove we won't all kill ourselves in war and we make progress enough to travel the universe we'll be accepted.
how come they've never visited us, then?
what would happen if aliens visited us right now? how would people and governments react?
we're not ready..

were the native people of this nation ready for columbus? i just wonder if we aren't the only ones out here, since it stands to reason that beings capable of interstellar travel would come to our planet.
