His BAWG (Busted) aside, it’s extremely disappointing that he made his studio negro proof. He can hire anyone he wants and he’s not obligated to put black folk on… but damn, when you know the barriers black people face in tech, you really couldn’t hire one black man/woman?

He’s not naive or whitewashed to the point where he doesn’t see it. Zuckerberg said he got put on because he’s Jewish. The people who bankrolled him said they gave him a chance because he’s one of their own. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve seen this repeated throughout the corporate world.

We’re the only group who make it and rarely put our own on. I’m not talking about handouts, I’m talking about infrastructure and interdependence. It’s extremely disappointing that he hired all CACs but again, it’s his business, he can do what he wants.

Re the pool of candidates

I generally think that issue is wildly overstated.....tech companies love to use ut and then we get the constant stream of stories about their hiring, interview and workplace practices

In fact they hire white candidates with meagre credentials they would never let black people slide with

I saw a tik tok floating around on twitter...i will aee if i can dig it back up...about how some interviewers intentionally give harder questions to minority candidates

Now back to Marcus... i dont know who applied so I cant slander him.....but I feel comfortable saying if he made an effort to find great minority candidates he would see they exist

But again...path of least resistance....

Mae are underrepresented in tech. I’m often thr only or one of a few. I know part of it is racial but also think part of it is lack of volume. My program had less than 10 of us.

Anyways, I’m just dying we don’t know who applied and who got interviews. It is wild to make assumptions based on the staff which is quite small. I hope someone asks him about it though. It will kill all the speculation.

Like i said, for MKBHD it's cool he's successful, but it's clear he's been "gone" for a long time, you don't ever really see him around other black people outside of the few times he and uravconsumer linked up purely for youtube tech videos. Other than that dude surrounded by non-blacks and making more and more videos that his own audience can't relate to with this high-end shyt. And i'll add i haven't heard him ever say anything blatantly c00ning, so that's why i'm not fully going there with dude.

MKBHD is that dude. I've been following his content for a while because he was one of the few (at the time) on the map that was black and putting out quality tech reviews. I find most cac reviewers insufferable ( LinusTech for example) with all the silly shyt, but MKBHD was at least chill, direct and likable. The lack of "real nikka energy" was apparent as fuk from the first video viewing, but it didn't matter.. He was a nikka doing dope shyt, opening up the lane for others like him.

As far as the cac chick, no offense to him, but he always came across as in the closet to me. I'm not buying that relationship. There's pet negro vibes in all of those cac pictures with him. However, I wish him the best.

I remember when he revealed that he broke his hand jumping in the air playin disc golf with cacs and listened to deadmau5 and cac music heavy and yeah.. he's not into black culture.
