. I'm aligned with most of your thoughts on this. I'm not caping for him because he's a tech nerd. I, personally, would have handled the BLM video differently. And the apparent lack of black employees at his studio is indeed a huge oversight. Where I draw the line and disagree is speaking ill of this man's "blackness" (whatever that even means) because of certain choices he's made or how he carries himself. I never been about that in real life or even in random corners of the internet. And idk if people are just talking shyt or actually believe this stuff but I try to speak up when I see it. I get I'm probably not changing anyone's mind and that's cool. I just think there's a more productive way to hold these conversations rather than screaming "c00n" when another brother makes us uncomfortable. I don't care who he's sleeping with or what music he listens to. I do care that he's a wildly successful breh with a STEM background projecting a positive image to an audience of millions. Black Power, Black Is Beautiful, my understanding was that 'blackness' is a form of 'civic religion' African Americans and Black people that identify with Black Americans culture express daily, similar to Chavismo or Jewish Chutzpah. (For lack of a better comparison) Not saying you're able to absorb it like ideology in a book but I've heard people earnestly say 'we real black' what does that mean to you? Is it just about skin tone?
If you agree with some aspect of what I wrote you understand the position we're in, it's not good. Call me a hotep but we should all be making at effort to find a black woman, pragmatically its better for the community. People have whatever personal hangups but imo it makes no sense to be pro black and for example move to Sweden. Wasted potential. Hopefully that makes sense.
I think you're settling for too little, I want more than a good image, I want a strong example. Imagine he does this video and the entire studio was black, that would be inspiring, we already know one breh can make it. That's just how I see it off the top of my head might be all over the place.
