The past year I been salaried and it's mad draining. They legit work the shyt outta u. I usually work 4 days on, and 3 off.

U always on call all the time, I either work 1pm to 1am or 8pm to 8am. And a lot times it's when that 1-1 turns into 1pm - 4am and constantly missing out on life, don't know how much longer I can pull it off. I pretty much had to change my life is drastically when I got this position

I'm 26, getting paid a lot more than I was a year ago and am a lot less happier. Add the fact I relocated to another city for the job. So it really gives me no time to really see my family or go to function.

The point is, we should resist being owned.

Who wants to spend majority of their life in a classroom or on the job?

We are capable of having more fulfilling lives
youre always going to be owned unless you have financial freedom or live the jungle lifestyle
school? was you homed schooled? if not you need to learn , even if the school system is stuck in the 1930s you need school

most of the time a 9to5 builds character

but we're always going to be owned bro this is the life we have been born in to.

Bruh, you nikkas are really complaining about a 9-5:skip:? My older sister at 19 was working from 4 in the afternoon to 3 in the morning in a damn plant. She was doing those numbers when she was 2 months pregnant before she got fired because of her health and missing too many days. Job was only paying like $13 an hour too:francis:. People in here making 3x that on less hours and STILL bytching and moaning...:smh:. Funny thing is that she STILL had enough time for a social life.

I even saw a nikka complaining about a being a cashier:skip:. A cashier, bruh:skip:...? Not a firefighter or a cop, but a fukking cashier/waiter:snoop:. My younger sister does that. She complains, but that's because she has a shytty attitude.

I work at a company doing in-house help desk. My job role bleeds into other areas sometimes.

All I've ever wanted was a regular 9-5 white collar gig.

Try working in a cold, dirty warehouse or anything physically demanding. You'll be so happy to get in that muthafukkin cubicle.

Did the warehouse thing for a few years. I was around people I could relate to more.

The cubicle is it's own cage. Surrounded by people who have been there for 15 years seeing the same shyt every day. Every day. For 15 years.

Surrounded by white folk at that. The higher you move up, the more bullshyt you will run into.

I thought this was the land of 6 certs, 6 dimes, 6 packs, and 6 figures.

I can tell alot of you guys are frauds based on these thread responses.

I really wonder how many dudes after have two certs, let alone six :patrice:

As someone that has only worked factory/cleaning jobs; anyone that complains about office jobs is a bytch low key

You get to sit down in an air conditioned office, listen to music, take an hour for lunch, get home and not be physically exhausted, you get to wake up at 7 or 8 instead of 5 or 6, and most likely make more money

Depending on the job and location, you still may make more money. I don't know any place that lets you listen to your own music like that. Best you get is the radio playing top 40 pop shyt all day. Same god damn songs every day. I get there at 9:30am-10am but I leave around 6 or 7. I won't be aching physically , but mentally you will be drained. You won't want to speak to NOBODY off the clock. Grass aint always greener.

Yeah, it is. You get to a place where you think about how much "more" you could be doing with your life. It's the cyclical and ironic nature of it. Everyone is working for the weekend and shyt only to start the same monotonous process again in two days; and to be frank Sunday isn't even really a day off because you spend all day thinking about Monday. Moreover, if you're 25 and let's say you live to be 70 that means you have less than 2,500 weeks left in your life. I mean, what the fukk am I doing? :gucci:

It's the micro-managing, it's the politics, it's the not owning the means of production, it's the remuneration or lack thereof, it's the opportunity cost all in one fukked up pill you have to swallow everyday. :wow:

I'm going to law school, but even that shyt has me like :patrice: when I think about it. It's not what I really want to do. It's practical, though. I truly want to go film school, but I'm scared I'll end up making Russell Westbrook highlights on Youtube and shyt after film school :wow:.

It's a cold game out here. *shakes sunflower seeds in hand before tossing them back*

You get it. Its the combination of small shyt that builds up over time. My co-worker keeps tossing shyt to me like he is busy, when I have a full plate and then some.

Then will try to tell me what to do with it, like stfu and let me do my thing :gucci:. I can't relate to ANYONE in the office. I feel like the odd man out (I'm one of four black folk in the entire office area. Out of 50 people)

It feels stiff, I have to watch my words, gotta navigate around Vice presidents and the CEO asking dumbass questions about IT stuff. Branch managers wanting me to spy on their employees with terrible software, etc etc.

I'm just saying, depending on the desk job, it ain't all peaches and cream. Btw our AC stops working when it feels like it :skip:

only on the internet is everyone signing their own checks and rocking with day to day freedoms looking down on 40 hour a week jobs 99.99% of folks have for their lifetime, talking about "you should be getting your own business started" as if capital to do that just grows on trees and you wont be putting in more than 45 hours a week trying to get it off the ground and finally profitable, if it even works out and you dont end up in heaps of additional debt and losing your house when it falls flat. plenty of people enjoy their work. getting your own thing going is often stressful as fukk and you fail a majority of the time, its hardly a walk in the park

Tell these fools.

Some idiots sittin' in offices be like "I'm tired of office work, I wanna get my hands dirty"

Then they get that "dirty hands" job, where they're always monitored, can't browse on their phone, those hour lunches are now 30 mins, and you can't go straight to the bar for drinks after work because u dirty and stank, and u need to shower.

I ain't even mention the wear and tear on your body.

I've had jobs, few would be considered "office jobs", although one was, and I don't currently work one, but I know for me, my personality, and how I view the world, and my place in it, I can't live my life doing some mundane, arbitrary task at the behest of others, to serve nothing but enriching a select few. Jobs have so many variables, and I do know people who find meaning in what they do, and have careers that are worthwhile. Money is a factor, but even making what I would consider 1% money, if it had no meaning to me I would probably manage to do a year or 6 months. I would finding working in marketing, insurance, sales, to be a fate worse then death, but I realize that others aren't the same, and they aren't constantly lost in existential thoughts.
