Is Chrono Trigger too dated to play for the first time in 2016?

Chrono Cross's story is GARBAGE.... like :wtf: was square thinking
Magus was supposed to be in it. For some reason Square aborted that but kept the actual model they were considering using for him and renamed the character. The only thing I remember about that game other than not really liking it back when I played it was to beat it and get the real ending you had to play elements in a certain order on the last boss and that the whole game was a quest to rescue Schala and the female pirate was Schala's clone or something.

Xenosaga II was garbage but I still copped III cause I wanted to see how it ended. I bought my copy of III brand new from Walmart back a lil after it came out. I still have all three games. To this day it's one of the greatest JRPGs I've ever played. The ending was great too. It's sad they'll never continue it because Nintendo bought Monolith and Namco owns Xenosaga. It's a travesty most people haven't played it because they couldn't make it through I and II.

Really though they should have never abandoned Soraya Saga's script because that's where the series went wrong. They went back to her ideas in the third game.

No, that game will forever live in the Pantheon of RPGs. I remember when it dropped back in 96 and I got a subscription to EGM at the time because I believe throughout 4 or 5 issues they gave a real in depth walkthrough in how to get certain endings.

I played it blind as a kid.

I was ten.

I got most of the multiple endings just out of curiosity.

Was Chrono Trigger one of the pioneers of New Game +?

At least those JRPG's that were actually released stateside?

When the Internet came out, I consulted a walk through and got the endings I missed.

Chrono Trigger named the feature, but NG+ goes as far back as the NES Zelda games.
