As someone who doesn't give a shyt about his non-music antics, I think he has one of the best, if not the best, discographies of any artist in the modern era. He's probably in my all time top 15.
With that said, I don't even know what legend means any more. It seems a little early to call him one right now, but we also live in an era where damn near every milestone in hip hop has already been crossed, and it doesn't seem like there's much he could do to solidify himself for the future. The quality is there, but he's never been a huge name. He's never going to have a hit record, or put out whatever today's equivalent of a platinum album is. He's beefing with the people who should be his peers and working with an industry pariah. I guess if he gets a Grammy, or drops another classic or two, it could become near undeniable, but he doesn't have a new direction that he will take that is going to change anyone's mind. He's not an innovator. He's not breaking any molds, and he's not going to be uber influential to the next generation. The guy just makes dope music and talks a lot of dumb shyt, and there's not much else to him.
All I can say is that the music is great, I don't really think the label matters.
