If anything he's underrated.

He's got a monotone voice but his flows are crazy and he has the most coded slang talk since Raekwon. Crazy good storytelling abilities as well.

he can definitely be an acquired taste (pause) and I didn't like him that much for a couple years, but when his style clicks it really clicks.

He has insane wordplay, metaphors, and analogies too.

Just saw him live too. No hype man and hit every single word. Super good live emcee. Drove 10 hours in his own car just to make a show too after missing a flight.

Breh this is what I'm talking about. Ya'll putting him in the same sentence as Jay-Z and Raekwon.

I'm not saying he's wack but this is the exact root of the thread.

I never said anything about Jay.

But yeah, he has the most coded raps and the most diverse slang since Raekwon. I'm far from the first person to say this, and numerous journalists with better credentials have said this than me.

Boldy's one of the most skilled artists in the game. You don't have to be a fan, and you have every right not to be. But just say he's not for you. Trying to act like he's not dope just seems either insincere or incorrect.

I think Boldy would rather have people like Hov and Rae be fans of his than any of us on here anyways, and both of them are.

It is what it is. I can't say anything else to make you appreciate him if you don't already.

Agree with all of this, and I would add that the "always the same flow" talking point is also just wrong

Not only does Boldy have numerous flows, many of them are unorthodox and interesting in some distinctive way

Don’t see where he’d be overrated. He’s not talked about enough honestly. Dude is a good storyteller especially when he gets good enough production. That’s really all you could ask for :yeshrug: We have to start appreciating the unsung heroes in the game.. The “this guy is great or this guy is trash” shyt has to stop. Hiphop is better with Boldy James in it.

Funny enough, I feel the opposite. Boldy's one of the only dudes that can get me to listen to an entire Nicholas Craven produced project AND think it's dope af.

Craven is simultaneously one of my least favorite popular underground producers, and also IMO makes the best projects for Boldy after ALC. He can also get me to listen to super generic trap producers like RichGain and Ant Beatz

That speaks to Boldy's talent.
MF THIS! Boldy be working them basic ass looped up beats :russ:

The Versace tape straight pissed me off when I first heard it because of the beats but I I gave it another chance and ended up actually loving it. He’s good at making these beats work and I’m okay with that

Terribly over-rated.

Man I saw a thread where someone said Jay-Z is gonna bite breh for his next album :mjlol:

I said let me throw on Tecmo Super Bowl with the alchemist and see the fuss....

you can't be deadpan like that and rap on ASMR beats :dahell:

you aint Prodigy :umad:
I fux with him but I laughed out loud, nig said ASMR beats, LMFAO!!

I can dig where you coming from, he is super duper monotone...and the one tone he has sounds boring and tired as shhit, lol. I just like how he rhymes and his delivery/flow makes the rhymes sound even colder, he's definitely an acquired taste.

Yeah, it's as if he can;t be bothered to even care about a lot of the murderous and cold ass shyt that he's talking about. He also had mad funny one liners and ad-libs and when he says it monotone it adds to the dry humor.

Chop the whole block up, that's when we found out that it wasn't them (My bad)
