Boldy is an acquired taste….His energy is usually low and at times it sounds like he just woke up from a long nap, smoked a blunt and then hopped in the booth lol

But his voice, rhyme schemes and slang usage are his strongest attributes.

I like his work with Chuck Strangers, Nicholas Craven and Alchemist the most though. My 1st chemistry set is an underrated album that came out long before he started getting critical acclaim and a cult following. I would like to hear him rap on beats like this more often but he found his lane with the drum less/unorthodox beats.

This is my shyt though

Your favorite rapper only raps about hoes and how lonely it is at the top :mjtf:
I know this wasn't replied to me, but Gibbs subject matter is shallow, but let's be real. Most rappers don't rap about a whole ton of different shyt. The attraction to Gibbs music is that it's super ratchet and low life. People can live vicariously or enjoy watching the train wreck. There are obviously some rappers with diverse subject matters (and most of them are legends because of it), but the main time I see people critique anyone for being one dimensional is when they just don't like that artist and it's only used as a criticism then.

People don't care about one dimensional artists when it's somebody whose music they like, and there are also tons of artists that aren't one dimensional but are still trash, and a lot that don't rap (like Gibbs does) about hoes and opps that are also trash.

But I definitely do understand seeing Gibbs' tendencies and behaviors is on social media and deciding not to like his music due to that.

Boldy also had more of a "yelling" and "loud" rap style back in the early and mid 2010's like on these songs. His voice is way quieter now. I feel like if he rapped on beats like this with the style that he does now that his voice would get way overpowered by how loud these beats are and by how much busier the production sounds.

He still releases stuff with 808s and what not, though.

I'm not saying freddie is bad hes good, hes just not elite to me very limited subject matter and hes been catapulted there from production imo
Can I ask a question in all sincerity? Not being sarcastic...why is the bolded a knock against him? An important aspect of being an artist and an emcee is picking dope production. Jay-Z used to get props for picking good beats, and Nas always got criticized for not picking good beats.

:dahell: All of a sudden it's a knock against Freddie that he picks good beats? That doesn't make any sense to me at all.

I guess what you might be saying is that he wouldn't be considered as dope without good beats, but many people listen to the full product and don't try and separate out every aspect like they're stems, or examine his skills on a chart like it's a math test. He makes dope ass music. Period. And most people can't rap as good as Freddie. It just is what it is. He clearly has the ability to tell stories and do concepts and what not, he just mostly chooses not to these days.

Boldy is dope, kinda reminds me of Curren$y where you can just throw on his tape and have it on in the background but still good in the headphones too
