Is Jay-Z the consensus GoAT at this point?

Easily the GoAT, yes?

Yeah you'll say this, but then not call Nas out for being somewhat inconsistent from 1996-2001 and being REALLY inconsistent :scusthov: from 2001-2012.

I don't hold Joe Louis or Larry Holmes fighting on past their primes against them either.

I'm not talking about Nas...

You are..

I stopped putting biggie as my GOAT becuz i've moved on, its been 20 years now, let the BIG n PAC are goats go

so who's left, Nas... and when you put your hate aside, and stop acting like Hov is levels below nas, when he's side by side, you'll see that Hov done more for hip hop than Nas and he's the real GOAT

Eminem / Jay-Z / Nas / Lil Wayne (These 4 can battle it out for 3rd place, depending on what factors matter most to you: Sales, lyrics, impact, classics, longevity etc etc... a LEGIT case can be made for all 4)

:mjlol:

Jay-Z hasn't put out a good album in 7 years..To put that in perspective, Pac's WHOLE rap career spanded 4 years..

he's only had 2 solo albums in 7 years and comparing someone that was in their 20s to a accomplished 40 year old :what:

Well this would have to go against his case for longevity wouldn't it?...

Is he still actively competively in the game? Or is his jersey retired and is he just doing victory laps?

Name any emcee with the combination of quality, longevity and consistency of Jay-Z not named Ghostface.

I could name them but my fingers would get tired from typing..80% of the class of '94 is still putting out consistent quality and that was 2 years before Jay even had a solo project..

You think artists just go away because you don't hear them on Hot 97 anymore huh?

@BarNone get in here :sas1:
Jay-Z on the other hand, has like 15 albums, and only 2 undeniable hiphop classics (Reasonable doubt, Blue print).... and NEITHER of those were GROUND BREAKING on the level of Illmatic, CHronic, DoggyStyle, Get Rich or Die trying... Etc etc.... Reasonable doubt didn't go platinum till 10 years later....

:pachaha: i mean say what you want to breh but Jay's work had a huge impact. BP and The Dynasty brought back soul sampling heavy and the former set the stage for Kanye's shyt, who would go on to be one of the biggest game changers ever. You ask Drake what his favorite albums are and he'll list The Black Album first. As far as Kendrick and TDE, they are all Hov stans. Wale, Hov stan. Cole, signed with him. People consistently cite RD as one of the best, doesn't matter if you think it's 'revisionist' or not.

he had 10 albums before that, thats not longevity? Especially in this genre?

Jayz is 2nd to only Nas to me when it comes to the GOAT convo. U can't chink up his whole catalogue because of a few recent albums. The dude has arguably 4 classics. Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, Black Album, American Gangster. He has surpassed BIG who used to be my GOAT but Nas and Jay at or near 20 years in the game and BIG only had 3, jus not enough music.

I can't place them...
1. Jay, Nas, and B.I.G.

After that...your just putting your personal taste and clear hatred for the other factions....

People who like Nas clearly forget all the trash he has brought forward, Jay fans swear he spits with the same skill and passion....HE DOESN'T!

but I'm all for trolling Nas Stans....Soooo please continue...:lolbron:
