Hart essentially serves the same purpose that DLo would've been with Bron as the main floor general. Id say there's trade off between the two but they'll be doing the same thing. Them also getting cap space and two other promising rookies is a cherry on top

D-Lo don't guard nobody, Hart plays defense, can shoot the 3 and his creation off the dribble is getting better and better

Hart can play defense yes, you treating boul like he a clamp artist or something tho. His defensive ability dont outweigh the fact that DLo's pretty much better in every offensive facet than him. Like I said, the two would be playing the same role in a static Bron offense (unlikely thats what they actually end up running) which would be offball shooter, so I dont feel the need to discuss their differences. But yall gotta admit you getting gassed off Hart playing incredible in SL. Cause based off the past season, this shouldnt even be a discussion

Josh Hart being a great defender is a myth. Same with Lonzo Ball.

In reality you don't know how good a defender he is until he's played a playoff series. You've never seen him nor Lonzo Ball have to guard the Lillards, Currys, Westbrooks and CP3s for an extended period of time, you don't know how well they'd do.

The importance of a point guard's perimeter defense, as I've said time and time again, is completely overrated. Even the elite point guard defenders like Beverley and Rondo get 30+ put on their head with efficiency, it's the nature of the position. You need offense from your point guard. This is why guys like Frank Ntilikina look like they don't belong in the league.

I mean DLO was a huge part of the Nets success before his injury and a good part of that was him fitting in Kenny's system. However your jaded view of Lakers DLo was (him being an iso scorer) is affected by him playing for the Lakers. Not suffering from the offensively retarded Byron Scott offense has led to him being one of the better young scorers. But you havent seen enough of him to think he also hasnt been a good playmaker.

Fair point

I rather have a fantastic on-ball player, solid playmaker, and knock down off ball shooter than what Zo was last year

You rather have a fourth year player than a guy who finished his rooking season and only really struggled with shooting? That should be expected.

I rather have Zo going forward because if he gets his shooting down, he's the better player as he does everything else significantly better :yeshrug:

Zo is far worse off ball therefore he’d likely fit less systems as a starter. He’s a better floor general but DLo has gotten a lot better at that in his own right. There’s mountains and crevasses separating them as scorers. Easily the biggest discrepancy between the two
Why does his off ball play matter that much as a pg anyway tho? Ball clearly likes being more of a pure pg than a scorer and D’Angelo should be a sg anyway

Lonzo a pretty good defender cause of his IQ. He usually in the right position and has great instincts

1. Hart is not better than DLO
2. Neither Hart nor DLO are better than Zo
3. Hart is the perfect role player....so even though he's not better than DLO he's way better for what we're trying to build than D'Angelo. DLO is a diva and we already have enough of those, Hart the type of dude to just play his role and do it well

It matters because Zo's style of play is he gets rid of the ball quickly. Did it in HS, College and during his rookie year. So his off ball player is important so he can get the ball back and get open shots. And now that Bron is here his off ball play will be needed more than ever, hopefully he shot improves.

DLO wanted to be the PG.....he was throwing shade at Zo in the weeks leading up to the 2017 Draft. DLO was gonna be an issue for us with Zo in town. Getting rid of him was the right move for the larger picture the Lakers are trying to put together

The biggest diff between the 2 is def

Lonzo was elite defensively & DLo is a matador
