It seems that these days, you're either overrated or underrated (body of work included). There is no solid, or very good, or decent. I don't think that he's one of the greatest MCs I've ever heard. A poster earlier, made a Canibus reference but Canibus came through and murdered legends. He had a helluva track record before his debut, and even with the debut no one was scared to say it was less than impressive.

I don't think Good Kid, MAAD City is one of the greatest albums that I've ever heard, or heard since 2010. It's okay, probably a solid album, but nothing exceptional. We've heard better, we've heard much worst - currently he's somewhere in the middle.

Yeah
Good kid maad city is objectively speaking one of the greatest albums of the past 10 years. It doesn't mean you HAVE to like it but it it what it is

so no, he is not overrated.
I don't like kendrick THAT much as an artist but I will say you know an album is a classic when other rappers already trying to mimic it. *cough* logic *cough*

Kendrick is the most talented mainstream rapper (although that's not saying much.) He is overrated by people who refuse to dig through records and/or youtube videos searching for unheralded rappers.

shyt, you can post those videos on here but they'll go unnoticed because there's no hype machine behind them

I think this is the issue. People are judging by different standards, is Kendrick better than a lot of his "competition" like Drake? Of course, but is he the best in the whole demographic of Hip Hop? No, and not even close, in my opinion of course. There's a lot of hype behind him, but there's people who released much better albums, that people dismiss because they aren't in that mainstream position and being promoted so hugely/pushed down your throat.

Ok, but I would say most people who have an in depth knowledge of Hip Hop don't feel that way. Wouldn't even by in my top 100 albums let alone top 10.

K-Rino is light years ahead of Kendrick. More than light years infact, needs to be a new word invented to express how much better he is than Kendrick. It is quite ridiculous to suggest an artist with, what is it, 1 mixtape/album and 1 official album is better than an artist who has over 20 albums, some of which are extremely high quality work objectively speaking. But people can like what they like, but objectively it isn't logical.
Kendrick's body of work is more than just section.80 and Good Kid, M.a.a.d City.
There's also Compton state of mind, c4, Kendrick Lamar EP, O.D. (overly dedicated),Training Day
and of course the project he dropped in his teens.

Also using volume of work isn't exactly what I'd say is a way to go about
measuring someones artistry.
Monk only has 70 original compositions in comparison to the hundreds
Duke Ellington wrote but he's held in the same regard.
Why ? Because what he wrote was brilliant no matter how you slice it.

On top of that not every K-Rino album is strong, I'm no where near
close to having all of the well over 2 dozen projects he's appeared on
but it's already apparent that he has songs that I wouldn't play twice.

breh im one of the more deeper hip hop diggers on this site and i still think gkmc is golden.
If kendrick dropped section 80 to NO buzz whatsover - youd be on his dykk guaranteed.

Kendrick has plenty of songs I didn't have the desire to play once, only listened for research purposes. There's a bunch of people who play K-Rino's albums all the time too, even going back to his old school shyt. Infact the 93 album seems to be quite a few of his fans favourite on here. In regards to Kendrick I'm going off official albums as I've heard both his official albums. Every K-Rino album isn't perfect, but I think he has masses of albums better than both Kendrick albums. Possibly all of them in all honesty. In regards to his mixtapes I can't comment on that because I don't think I've heard the every single mixtape project, but hearf both official albums and at least 1 or 2 of the mixtapes. It is certainly isn't quantity over quality, but if you compare the work and artistry on some of K-Rino's best projects in my opinion it is vastly superior to Kendrick's. I haven't evaluated my ratings of all K-Rino's work but I know he's got at least 2 albums I rate 5 mics, 2 at at least 4.5, 2 at 4 and his weakest to me at 3.5. And that's leaving out A LOT of his work. I rated GKMC a 3 mic album, and felt I was being generous to do so. So we might just to agree to disagree on this 1. This isn't really about Kendrick vs K-Rino anyway, that only got brought up cause people were trying to troll.
