Duncan wasn't THAT much better :yeshrug: (he was better tho)

I think if you remove Duncan from that Spurs and replace him with KG it's probably they still win multiple rings. KG can definitely anchor that team like Duncan did. And I think Pops would make KG a better player than he was if he gets KG as rookie like he did Duncan

He had pure trash around him until spree and cassell

I believe he wins ship in 98 wit the spurs if roles was reversed

Him and Robinson would work well together
I think how bad his teammates were is a little overstated. Now he did have some horrible injury luck. Terrell Brandon, Marbury, Szerbiak, Gugliotta were all solid as hell. My big knock on KG was that if he was more aggressive playing with his back to the basket it would've opened things up offensively a lot for his teammates. His turnaround jumper out of the post was beastly. He just never had that selfishness as a first option to stay on the attack which meant teams didn't have to double him nearly as aggressively. But dude is widely considered as a top 25 player and I think is constantly overlooked when talking great defensive players. When I hear about Draymond being the best defender since Ben Wallace it makes me wonder why KG is ignored in that.

:russ:

He had rookie and 2nd year Marbury

When he got some good teammates they made the WCF. I believe cassell was injured too and they still took the lakers to 6

Being on those trash Minny squads def reduce from his value, breh was a monster. I'd however say the Spurs wouldn't be so succeful if you replaced him with Duncan tho

Arguably, no other power forward had a better season than his MVP season. Yet Duncan has five rings. He didn't have good teams around him for most of his career so there are less iconic moments casuals can point to and say this guy has an argument for GOAT PF.

Malone, based on stats alone, is arguably the best, most consistent PF of all time but he's also a pedo scumbag deadbeat father. And Duncan is the greatest of all time.

With one ring, his jersey being retired by 2 teams and a reputation as one of the greatest power forwards of all time is not a bad legacy.
