He helped changed the NBA. He was the first big man that didn't need to have his back to the basket

KG was a great defender and a high level offensive player. The ONLY flaw to his game was that he wasn't really a creator which is why he wasn't a crunch time guy. He was never strong enough to dictate what he wanted in the post which is what hurt his game. That said some of ya'll don't remember your NBA history. KG's ownership lost 5 yes 5! first round picks. Not via trades to get vets, just straight got em took because they made an illegal, secret deal to sign Joe Smith (yes JOE SMITH)! to an $80 mil plus extension. So during the prime of KG's career his team not only couldn't draft potential rotation guys in the 20s, they had nothing to trade to add help. No other team dealt with that (their fault) but no other star was ever in a situation where his team had NO picks for 5 years to give him help. Even still the wolves went to the playoffs year after year just off of KGs back. The 1 year where he had All Star caliber teammates they went to the WCF and had a real shot at the Lakers before they lost Cassell (their 2nd best player) AND his backup T Hud and had to start Fred freaking Hoiberg at the point. KG had almost no real help most of his career. Wally SZCwhatever was a spot up shooter, Googs was meh and that was it

TYRONE GA!
Yes, one of the most underrated players in the history of the game.

Impact wise, there aren't alot of players who rates higher than him. Players who aren't primarily known for scoring AND doesn't have team success are generally underrated.

We might need to bring the Draymond vs The World thread back up :patrice:

Amazing player. Did it all.

Should have left the wolves long before he did. A player that great should have had more rings, but I'm glad he at least got one.

KG game was way different than them. KG played damn near like a swing man. From a 7 footer that was unheard of. The traditional big man was on his way out the door after that
Nope Sabonis Ralph Sampson Charles Barkley all had guard skills. Charles wasn't 7 feet but he was a big.

Both KG and Sabonis came in the league the same year but Garnett clearly had a bigger impact his rookie year. Sampson wasn't the player he should've been tho due to injuries. I wouldn't call Barkley a big man tho. He's only 6'6. He played bigger than his height. KG revolutionized that position

If anything he's overrated. First thing out of nikkas mouths is a comparison to Duncan. People love to say, "put him on those Spurs squads". You really think he's winning rings with Avery Johnson, flabby Robinson, Mario Elie, young and inconsistent TP and Manu? :usure: In truth the gap between what he had and what Tim had is overstated. Not to mention he played how many years with Ray Allen and Paul Pierce and won how many rings? nikka won that one chip in Boston and morphed in a modern day Bill Russell, super leader.

Sabonis was playing basketball well before he came in the league lol and was well know as the best player not in the league for a long time Sampson was well know before injuries and it was actually many others that had guard skills and we moving goal post if Barkley not a big Draymond not either.

Sabonis was playing in Europe tho. Nobody knew who he was unless you were a basketball expert. Barkley was undersized tho. How you a big man at 6'6? KG got a good 5 inches on him

It's others to that played on the perimeter is my point before he came in. He gets to much credit for that imo.
