Overrated as a passer but dude was great and ahead of his time

Slightly better than duncan to me

In this era he'd be the perfect stretch 4

You couldn't rely on KG to win you a game. He wasn't a guy that can get you 40 if the team needed it. He didn't keep his foot on your neck in crunch time. I think his career high was only like 42. He was almost too unselfish.

In his entire prime he was basically a 1B or 2nd option. He needed a killer like Lebron needed Kyrie/Wade.

With that said, he would be a monster in today's NBA, especially if he extended his range out to 3.

TYRONE GA!

KG and that Dallas team is not beating the Heat in 2011.

You could rely on Dirk to get you buckets and carry you home down the stretch. While he wasn't the defender KG was, Dirk definitely is who I'd want.

Old JKidd, Jason Terry, and KG ain't beating no Heatles.

Not to mention Dirk played against KG pretty damn well

Not going to the playoffs all those years hurts KG no matter how you spin it. Not to many ALL TIME greats miss the playoffs 3 or 4 years in a row, mediocre team or not. Plus playing in the shadow of Duncan (who was always better) didn't help and with Dirk being a better stretch 4 (as far as having more range on his jumper) KG doesn't get the props for evolving the 4 spot to what it is not even though he was in the league years before Dirk debuted. But the man was a monster and he's definitely a top 5 power forward and probably one of the top 20 all around defenders of all time along with being a top 50 overall player of all time.

Yes, one of the most underrated players in the history of the game.

Impact wise, there aren't alot of players who rates higher than him. Players who aren't primarily known for scoring AND doesn't have team success are generally underrated.

Kareem missed the playoffs two years in a row in his prime and he's in the GOAT conversation.

KG missed the playoffs three years in a row, while the first year of the three they finished with 44 wins which would be the 5th seed in the east and 7th in the west this year.

Btw, wtf? Top 20 defender? Top 50 overall player? I'm sure you haven't put much thought into this so try this:

make a list of 19 players who you could argue being a better defender than him.

Then make a list of 49 players who you could argue being a better overall player than him.

If you dig into the numbers, you'll find that Garnett belongs way, way higher than that.
