I'm also not positive Mahomes has even peaked yet, and I'll grant that watching Mahomes is on the short list of the highest I've seen the position played period. I'm not a fan but I'm not stupid, he's obviously the real deal...

He got a long way to go before he can even be spoken of as a GOAT with any legitimacy though...
You finally came around. I knew you would in the end.

His first year starting he threw 50 tds. It's not Mannings 55 but he's already had MUCH higher playoff peaks in this short span and proven to be more clutch when it matters. He literally has a 24-1 TD-INT Ratio at home in the playoffs.

He's basically got all of prime Rodgers technical ability mixed with Bradys clutch gene, it's insane.

Does he have Brady's clutch gene? This dude Mahomes was terrible in 7 of the 8 Super Bowl quarters he's played in, well below standard. No one should feel comfortable putting fam in the same conversation as Brady yet...

So he also has Manning's choke ability on his resume already. He's had higher playoff peaks but Manning became Manning from how he dominated regular seasons. Mahomes is certainly starting off well, looks like he's heading to his third Super Bowl which is how many Manning went to in his entire prime, but he has to put some longevity on the board...

You finally came around. I knew you would in the end.

Mahomes is a great, great player. Still not a fan, still think he's overrated in the sense people say he's the best QB they've ever seen, but I'm a fan of great players in a general sense and I appreciate watching All-Timers in the making, in any sport...

At some point he's gonna have to win these games on the road. The two neutral site games he's played he has come down to earth. Granted, when you're that great year-in year-out, most of your playoff games will be at home, but we saw Brady (7-4 career on the road in postseason) win playoff games and conference titles in someone else's house, it's part of his legend. Mahomes will continue to get most of these games at home but let me see him play the way he plays at home, on the road, and in these Super Bowls...

By my estimation Marino is the 10th or 11th greatest QB ever, and he's not over Marino yet. We all know "greatness" isn't decided by skillset, which all greats have an elite skillset for how the sport was played in their time. Mahomes is certainly on pace to clear a bunch if muhfukkas before him; he's not there yet...

This is what I hate about sports now. We can’t let careers play out anymore. We have to call everyone GOAT before their careers are even half over

He’s one of the most talented QB’s I’ve ever seen but nobody is the GOAT this early into their career

He’s in the running for most physically talented QB ever with the likes of Rodgers Elway Farve Marino etc let’s see where his career ends up when it’s all said and done

It’s also a different era. So I give more credit to the all time greats from past eras then this one where teams throw it more often and you can’t play defense

I saw a stat that he’s tied for most TD’s ever through a certain amount of games with Marino

The fact Marino still has those record paces considering the era he played in is amazing

I don’t care about just rings for my money Marino is still the greatest QB talent I’ve ever seen

All of this...

He's in Y6. Nobody is the fukking GOAT 6 years in, and when this thread was created he was only entering Y3. This shyt really pisses me off...

The talent is undeniable, all 4 seasons as a starter they've been a Final Four team. But I stress to dudes, when Marino got to the Super Bowl in '83 (Y2), nobody thought he was never gonna win a Super Bowl. He played 16 more years and never even made it back...

When Rodgers won it all in '10 (Y3 as a starter), literally no one thought we'd be here today a dozen years later saying that 2010 was not only his only championship, it's been his only appearance at that stage...

Even Mahomes Stans went crazy expecting a dynastic run after the '19 chip and two complete seasons have gone by since they won it...

This shyt isn't easy. There's no guarantee he'll ever win another Super Bowl, for all we know Mahomes could play until 2034 and we're sitting here in a dozen years talking about how 2019 was the only championship. If I had to bet today, I'm definitely of the mind he'll win at least another one------->but I also expected Rodgers to win another one, I also expected Manning to win another one before he was washed, and if I was around in the 80s I'm sure I would have bet on Marino winning one...

He has to play better in bigger games as well, but guys gotta give him time. He's got ample quarterback competition in his era, we will find out in due time if he just looked the part or if he truly historically distances himself from not only his peers, but All-Timers who preceded him. 6 years in ain't it, though...

To add on, the AFC is pretty loaded with young, high end QB talent. You have him, Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Herbert and Watson for sure. Trevor Lawrence looks like he might wind up in the mix and maybe Tua though I have doubts about his health. Not to mention Wilson still has some years left in him as well. I don't think there's ever been so many good QBs in one conference at a time before.

You could add Carr in as well too...

There definitely has never been a time with so many average and above QBs, ever. The ultimate determinant of these guy's legacies, given that all are really good, will be their respective team's abilities to build appropriately around them. Mahomes has a head start, as he's older than all these guys besides Russ and already has a championship, but these other guys will continue to develop and blaze their own lanes...

This is a really fun time for the NFL, I thought the 00s and 10s was the golden era of the QB given the supernatural influx of talent The League got in those years, but we may haven't seen anything yet. The position is still evolving in front of us, over a century into NFL existence. It's exciting...

I think you guys are getting "GREATEST Of All Time" confused with "Best/Most Talented of All Time".

To me, it's undisputable that Brady is the GOAT, because of longevity and career accomplishments.

But I have Rodgers, Mahomes and Peyton above him as far as BEST I ever saw.

If some dude came into the NBA tomorrow as a rookie and averaged 100 points per game his rookie year and then blew out his knee and never played again, he wouldn't be the GOAT but could you honestly say that anyone was better at their peak?

I'd say that Mahomes is a better talent because he's not a statue in the pocket like Marino was, AND he's much more clutch.
