Willie dope but not in the top 5... Curtis Mayfield >>>> Willie Hutch

I'mma have to disagree on that. I could never get into Curtis Mayfield's music all that much, but it all comes down to opinion.

Willie Hutch has to be one of the most sampled in rap music.

Guys like Marvin are considered to be a better singer, but for overall sound, I go to Hutch, especially since he produces his own music.

I think he's really overrated. Album wise he only has one or two classics IMO then maybe two decent to good ones.

Didn't see this...def not overrated. Probably one of the best songwriters of our time.....the props he get are due...but he is not in the conversation of GOATs.

He is in my opinion. I feel like when it comes to classic soul, no one is above him.

He always had dope album covers too. :wow:

Marvin Gaye's voice was so unique because of the emotion it conveyed when he sang. The thing that I admire the most about Marvin's singing is the fact that he would hit every note crystal clear, so it's easy to always hear every word he sang.

This is just epic, man:

That "Here,My Dear" album cover....

:wow:

Im a geek when it comes to classic album covers especially when the content matches up.

@kevm3 as someone who listens to thousands of music/artists from various genres, it seems like I am always finding out about someone new whenever I think I have everyone down.

Until your post I did not even know of a Willie Hutch :dwillhuh:

But now I know i gotta step my game up even more. Thanks

:salute:

Btw you posted a joint by some Latimore dude some time ago. You got any more stuff from him you recommend?

i think that's the only joint i really knew by him and i can't even recall it off the top of my head anymore. what sort of old school are you into? the more soulful sound, funk or what? I got a ton of these old school jams.
