I was high while cruising with my sister yesterday and we had the radio playing. All the new shyt and that Migos delivery was making us retarded. Switched stations and “California Luv” was playing. It was like a breath of fresh air.

It’s trash

Please save all that “ you have to search for it “shyt

U have all these local black radio and black XM radio stations and with the millions of black songs thats been ever made and being created, they play the same 4/5 artists every hour on the hour and they all sound the same autotune, mumble rap and depressed as female R&B artists

The artist development is completely gone and u got motherfukkers just going on social media making bullshyt and unfortunately they getting put on for their 10 minute shine

when he offed himself and then got exposed prince found all the sheet music :mjlol:
Not at all i love beats and beat making (i'm cooking up as we speak) but i can always be honest about music. musicians vibing in the same space make magic. one man in a room with a drum machine cannot come close. all that soul and vibration is what was sampled and sought after in samples. you can replicate sounds and instruments have all the digital tools to do it but you won't get the intricate details down the same way and our ears are expert at detecting all that is there and all that isn't.

music is spiritual energy and vibrations. 1 and 0's can cannot replace just emulate.

Listening to Ray Charles. They don't make em like this no more. :wow: All the music instruments in the background is what really set those eras off. Piano, Trumpet, Drums, Saxophone.

Music used to be fun. Everything is soulless beats now.
Bruh you ever looked at just what it took to be able to RECORD in these times? Creates even greater appreciation as a listener and ALSO if YOU RECORD it’ll make you wanna tighten up as an artist.

Regular YouTube algorithm is amazing so I can only imagine what YouTube music is like.

I think you need to be consistent on what you watch and like

That why I have specific YouTubes I login to for music vs the other random stuff you find online.

Also I still find good music on tumblr as it’s always been a good spot for new/different artists :manny:

I think regular YouTube’s algo is horrible for music. It’ll keep playing the same songs over and over again. I switched to Pandora and it was doing the same thing. Drove me crazy as I play music all day while I work.

nikka what? :what:

You didn’t know The Weekend is Ethiopian and from Canada, breh? :dahell:

He’s not Black American. He’s African/Canadian

Soul music in this context isn’t part of his culture. His people didn’t come from Slavery and his music doesn’t come from the “black experience”.

It’s no surprise he doesn’t make “black American” music which R&B is part of. He doesn’t have that tradition so it’s not surprising his music lacks the soul of the Black artists he’s being compared to.

Even Lenny Kravitz music has soul and he was doing Rock/Alternative :manny:

Cac music during the 70s was closer to American Black art form then modern American Black music is now which is sad:francis:

That’s crazy but true. A lot of them had Black musicians playing for them or they learned from Black musicians. Some of them had us fooled into thinking that they were Black, until we finally saw their faces

DAWs and drummachines are too perfect. What you're describing is the nature of playing an analog instrument. Not everything is perfectly timed or perfectly onbeat which gives it more of a natural sound. Those slight imperfections gave the music more life.

It's funny, there are cats who still play live instruments and play live in songs today. Even DAWs have a randomize/humanize feature to them.

Many producers are actually musically trained and know about adjusting timing, playing in the pocket, etc.

End of the day though, the artists just ain't all that great and everyone makes the same microwave music.

All the same 808s (Zay or Spinz like my avy) for the last ~15 years.

Like I said earlier all the content about being the hardest. The messages are basically all the same and there's no chemistry with singers.

Can you imagine any two artists today singing a song with this much heart and chemistry?
