I thought this thread was gonna be about black bodybuilders being rated unfairly at competitions, or black YouTube and ig fitness people not getting sponsorships or some shyt.

Depends on the gym chain. I see Powerhouse was tagged, Crossfit:mjpls:Yeah, those possibly. The gym ive been going to since 2014 has majority black people in sales/management, and seems similar in nearby gyms. Cert is definitely the way to go though if you really want to go Full-Time, black men are eating good out here on the independent PT circuit

I don’t mean any disrespect but that isn’t a job for you. Working at the front desk should be kids or something in all honesty most gyms once they get
Card readers or ID scanners toss that job in the bushes. And secondly that isn’t a fitness industry job you aren’t training, selling, dealing with supplements and equipment.

in all honesty you would likely make
More money working at chik fila...And if you are trying to get into the game as a trainer you don’t really have to affiliate with a gym but could free lance...Or even better set up a YouTube or something and post workout tips and fitness advice blog your workouts if you have the right charisma you may have found your niche and can become an online trainer and maybe pick up a sponsorship.

Here's a quick story:

A major gym chain was opening a gym in the town I live in. I was looking for a second job to get some extra hours, so me having a lot of customer service experience I applied. I applied probably seven or eight times because I know a lot of people are looking for work in the area I live in.

So about three weeks before the gym opens I finally get a call from the guy doing the hiring. So I get in for interview and this guy really gives me a third degree about how I can provide the best customer service and asking for instances where are provided outstanding sale service. I mean the grilling he's giving me slightly embarrassing . Mind you I've been working in sales and customer service jobs for about 20 years which was outlined in my resume by the way. So 2 hours after I get off the the interview I get the email saying that he has chosen another candidate. Okay cool I move on.

Just the other day I went into the gym to take a look at it and to see if I can get a free day pass and I know it is a front he has nothing but tweens working, kids they look like they're just out of high school. Yet he told me he hired all these people with major SALES experience to work the front desk.

Now I'm not going to lie to you I live in a redneck town. 85% of the people out this way are Trump voters. People open up stands by the road selling Donald Trump t-shirts and hats every weekend. However, when I go to a lot of gyms that are not in towns with heavy black populations I get the heavy no :mjpls: vibes. You would think black people will have a Fighting Chance in the fitness industry but it seems like it just says as :mjpls: then the other industry.

Am I wrong about the fitness industry in general?

From what I understand yes. I am considering it but I was just promoted in my current field and like the other person I have a minor injury I just reactivated:snoop: that I am trying to make go away for good before I seriously think about that. Being a personal trainer is sometimes like being a therapist according to PTs I follow which turns me off from it. But the clientele is there, at least in my area.
