If he didnt get it here he would have gotten it elsewhere

U cant plan for an Achilles tear...shyt happens

Howard pisses me off worse than all (strikeouts...but its mainly based on expectations) but the bottom line is u see what this lineup is without him

No he wouldn't have. They gave him that contract before the 2010 season when his contract at the time wasn't expiring for another two years...i.e. right after he blew his Achilles out...

He isn't in the class of Prince or Albert or Votto and GMs know this. His OBP is unacceptable for anyone making $20M+. And Rollins, for all his vaults, can at least still play SS, which makes him incredibly valuable. There aren't 10 SS who have been better over the last 3-4 years.

so hes got all the numbers equal but not the on base percentage? So he wouldnt of gotten that contract? Howards power numbers are off the charts

U cant compare people to Pujols...no one compares to him

And to say "he blew out his achilles...so, it was dumb" u dont plan for that stuff...he doesnt have a long history of injuries

He would of gotten that contract (minus the injury...which was random). If we could go back...certainly u wouldnt do it...Ruben was worried about locking him up with these starters to go on a run for the next few years to win some championships possibly

Blew his achilles out...shyt happens. Ruben still made the right move,

You're defending the Howard contract.

I'm not going to bother arguing anything else with you.

There was NO REASON to extend the contract when they did. ZERO.

Also, OBP is kind of important.

Whats chondromalacia

Its a problem with the cartiage underneath the knee cap

Im not saying it doesnt cause problems...but it hasnt required surgery

Chase is going to have to put up with a certain amount of pain through the rest of his career...even if that means going to be a DH in the AL

Right

So Ruben Amero had no idea what he was doing, and the move made no logical baseball sense :upsetfavre:

Pretty much.

Howard had 2 years left on his contract.

Give me one reason why it made sense to extend him another 5 years/$125M at that point.

what part of them extending howards contract unnecessarily for absurd numbers do you not understand? if they waited for it to expire, and assess the situation when his contract was up, they could have seen him get injured, and seen his numbers drastically decline in a short amount of time, and said fukk it we are moving elsewhere at first base. the gm was a complete dipshyt, and said "nah lets give him 5 more years, and start the deal 2 years from now for 125 million." just ridiculously dumb, and i and anyone else with baseball common sense shyt on that contract THE DAY it was drawn up
