I'm talking about the players as they were, not some mythical version of the player that exists in a different reality.

The question is whether today's players could have put up these numbers against THAT defense. Mullin didn't put up 25+ ppg by shooting threes like Klay Thompson. He was mediocre to poor on threes and put up those numbers anyway.

I'm the troll when most the #'s you quoted had NOTHING to do with his 25 ppg scoring seasons? :mjlol:

I already put up his % before they shortened the line - 34.8% from 3pt. And ALL of his 25 ppg seasons were during that period, including the ones where he shot 23% and 30%. Yes he managed 45% one season as an outlier, the other two were 36% and 37%.

And as I already pointed out, when he took a 3pt shot it was almost always an open shot. He wasn't getting those %'s with anything like the defense Klay faces.

Once again, the question was whether today's players would do better or worse against that 1990s defense. If Chris Mullin could have a 27ppg season while shooting the 3pt like shyt, doesn't that mean he could easily have had 35ppg or more if he shot the 3pt like Klay Thompson does?

Which means he was NOT nailing 3pt shots and easily could have put up 7-8 more points if he was. :gucci:

It's 2am in Chicago old man, I think you're too sleepy to follow this conversation. Don't you have a family and a job to worry about?

38% from 3pt is higher efficiency than 56% from 2pt, and you don't need to risk a turnover getting into the defense.

But that 56% 2pt number is heavily distorted by the fact that it was the early 1990s and fast breaks were far more common. Even in his later years (97-01, the only ones we have exact data for), 40% of Mullin's 2pt shots were in the key and Mullin was a 74% shooter at the rim, 31% in the key away from the rim, and 46% from midrange. In the early 1990s when he was younger and the game was even more wide open he would have been shooting even more at the basket and had lower midrange #'s. 46% is elite midrange but it's nowhere near as efficient as shooting 42% from 3pt like Klay does.

Shooting 46% or even 50% from midrange 2's doesn't somehow make the 3pt shot irrelevant.

My health is perfectly fine, I have literally zero health problems unless you're talking mild covid shyt way back in 2020. :mjlol:

Do you have a family and a job or not though? It's 2am in Chicago and you're typing about Chris Mullin in red all-caps.:patrice:

Klay could easily average 28ppg if he was the #1 guy. When Steph went out in the 2016 playoffs Klay averaged 29ppg on 47% shooting (46% from 3pt) against playoff defense even though the rest of his starting lineup was Livingston, Barnes, Draymond, and Bogut.

Klay was averaging 22ppg for the 5 years before his injury and he took ~18 possessions/game to do it. DeRozan also averaged ~22ppg outside of two outlier years but it takes him ~21 possessions/game to do it. Those 3 extra possessions make a BIG difference to your team. The only two seasons where DeRozan has averaged a lot more it's taken him 24-25 possessions/game to do it in.

Here's the thing.. i appreciate what you try to do but at the end of the day it's different eras. Dude did not grow up in the 2010s with modern technology. You can't argue what he would or could have done because he wasn't from the time.

Furthermore.. if you traveled to 1990 nobody is going to score 50 pts off 9 made threes. They aren't gonna shoot it that much...
Modern tech has NOTHING to do with handles. Pistol Pete would of smoked that squirt.

1st Round Playoff Exits
Michael Adams being an all-star at 5'11" with his skill set doesn't help your case. :mjlol:

Dawg had a wack-ass jump shot, terrible form on layups, no strength, no hops....and still averaged 27ppg one year in those "tough" 1990s.

I had to time stamp this play though, this is just too much. :russ::russ::russ:

And how people talking about dribbling moves when Michael Adams carried the shyt out of the ball all the time? :ohhh:

Imagine what Kyrie would have done to THOSE defenders. :francis:

Michael Adams played for a run and gun Nuggets team that played zero D. He was legit, but everybody on those nuggets team was putting up numbers

If you were actually a baller like you claim to be then you'd know that players can make any sort of wack free throw at a high % if they practice it enough.
