Jerry West is a point guard, and a 70's player, if you're going to have old ass players that you've never seen play then you should atleast have Havlicek. Clyde isn't better than VC neither at his peak nor throughout his career despite him having more team success throughout his career, same with Ginobili.
1. I've seen all the "old ass players" that I've listed play, albeit via replays of entire games shown on ESPN Classic/NBATV/Youtube. But, say if I didn't and we were to use your logic, does that mean that anybody under the age of 50 shouldn't be able to say that Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of all time? Does that mean that anybody under the age of 60 shouldn't be able to say that Bill Russell or Wilt Chamberlain weren't among the best to ever play in the NBA?
2. West was primarily a shooting guard, although he played point guard also. Hence, he should be acknowledged as one of the best SGs ever.
3. Havlicek definitely deserves praise but we're talking about best SGs of all time and Havlicek played primary as a SF. Hence, no discussion on Havlicek.
4. Clyde > Carter and it really isn't a debate.

Clyde is the Trailblazers' all-time leading scorer and was an NBA champ, a 10x all-star, a Dream Team member, and a 5x all-NBA Team member. In the 94/95 NBA Finals, he averaged 22ppg, 10rpg, and 7apg as he and Hakeem led the Rockets to a championship. In his best statistical regular season (88/89), he averaged 27ppg (while shooting just a shade under 50% from the field), 6apg, 8rpg, and almost 2.7spg. Moreover, he was the prototype of the kind of player Vince Carter was in his prime.
