:why:
Oakley and Kerr probably in some local/state HOF but they ain't in Naismith Memorial.

Kerr has a good shot an eventual enshrinement: he's an all-time 3 point sharpshooter, contributed to several championship teams, and will have one ring and maybe more as a coach.

On topic, comparing eras is pointless. There's no good way to do it, to account for different factors. The NBA is different in terms of spacing, specialists, strategies, talent pool, etc. The knocks on fundamentals ring hollow, the idea the guards are actually 3rd tier talents who couldn't score in the 90s is goofy... I think I saw in another thread someone say Charles Barkley would be a shorter Z-Bo in this era. We're talking about one of the most unique players in NBA history, man. I take it all with a grain of salt.

Kerr won championships as a player and a coach, hes a hall of famer

Oakley was one of the top 10 pfs in his day, hes a hall of famer too
Kerr averaged like 5-6 points in his career and 1 championship as a coach doesn't mean anything. He may get in as a coach (depending on the rest of his career) but not as a player.

And I ride with Oakley, but no. :francis:

Like I said above, depending on how his career goes, he may get in as a coach but 5-6 points a game and having the highest 3pt % won't get him in as a player. Robert Horry got 7 rings on 3 different teams and is a some of those teams are wearing that ring, but he ain't seeing the HOF. :hhh:

fukk! You got me tagging brehs! :lupe:

But my position is the same: When big men don't know/can't box out, you don't have the game of basketball.

Sadly, the NBA is trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, the casual fans. No more hard nose defense, lack of offensive rebounds, everyone on every position shooting 3s, guards able to drive the lane easily and roam free, wide open shots, etc. I remember at the time in they were talking about the 2005 NBA Finals betw the Spurs and the Pistons as "boring". That's when I knew the downfall would begin :snoop:

Oakley was a powerful stiff who had a good jumpshot but anchored to defend Davis Boys ass niqqas. I can't imagine Charles stepping outside to defend stretch 4s

Dwight Howard and the rest of these scrub ass "bigs" today would have no choice but to develop a mid range game, they wouldnt out hustle him for a rebound and they damn sure wouldnt back him down in the paint

So at minimum half of steph currys highlight reel last year wasnt him shooting a wide open trey?

Yes through illegal screens by Bogut and Green, and the other half was in dudes faces. The point is, I'm an old head and I won't big up back in the days like it was super different.

I only meant he has a shot due to his coaching, not that he was a Hall of Fame talent. We agree.

Dwight isn't a stretch four. Why would you use him?

Oakley was too heavy footed to defend outside the paint. He was built to defend yesterday's power forward. Thats why a young DC would always beast on him
