How do companies loose money so fast like that ????
Idk shyt how business works so I'm:patrice:

companies always spend a lot of money their first few years to get operations up and running. a lot of tech companies only goal is to build up the user base so that a big company like google, amazon, facebook or apple buy them out. sometimes they go into debt in the millions for that:yeshrug:

tidal had to spend money for a lot of exclusives to set them apart from spotify and apple music so it shouldn't be a surprise if they are losing money right now. i like what they offer tho. it's definitely above spotify imo and right there with apple music.

But Spotify had a net income of almost $2 Billion last year, too. 100 million active users, and 39 million paying subscribers as of last month.

We'll see if Tidal gets there in five more years, I guess.

Spotify did 2 billion in Revenue. Revenue is not net income (profit). They lost 200 million last year.

Tidal is the fastest growing streaming service and tripled their user base last year. They are well on their way.

Doing my first Tidal free trial right now. Gotta say I'm impressed with it, despite all the negative things I heard initially. Like @ahomeplateslugger said, better than Spotify, neck and neck with Apple Music in terms of what it offers.

Leaning towards subscribing with Apple once the trials up though (3 dollars cheaper.)

No it's not cheaper. But you have to subscribe from the Tidal site because Apple takes a 30% cut if you do it from the Apple store. I remember I almost got caught up with that shyt.

But the fact that it's taking a loss is no surprise. The bad thing with a star getting involved in business is you get a bunch of people who otherwise don't know shyt about business getting involved.

The World, but from BK
If 28 million last year is a huge loss then what about Spotify? They posted a loss of 200 million in 2015. Lol

Here's spotify'ss biz model

And for other companies things like content costs, R&D, analytics.

$2 billion NET income? :stopitslime::comeon:

Spotify revenues topped $2bn last year as losses hit $194m - Music Business Worldwide

When you rake in that much, the net loss becomes a big number as well.

Nice link breh, :salute:

I see a few things happening here.

  1. Most of y'all don't know basic accounting principles - revenue vs profit
  2. Please tell me y'all understand the amount of money that had been invested in Pandora and Spotify and thus the agenda to discredit start ups like Tidal
  3. Tidal has a big black face backing it (Jay), so another agenda is to marginalize a black man for his business ventures/savvy
  4. Next to google play, which is barely competitive in this space, Tidal pays artists the most revenue...yet, it's year one profits far surpass their competitors
  5. Linking these thoughts together..most streaming services pay LABELS a lot of money. Labels are owned mostly by whom???? Label owners are friends with media outlets who write articles and spin stories.
The best place to hide information is in a book...or somewhere on the internet nowadays. Cuz u know, it's so hard to find that info.
