It depends on how u going to justify the types..

Majority here are independent own truck, special trade contractors like painting and drywall..

Around 45
I just changed it after reading this.

I mean business that are buildings or offices, that are in the same location everyday. No independent contractors unless they work from a permenant walk in office.

How many of each stationary business you think you got breh?

45 seems like a lot

What service or products at each?

Four of the top of my head right now

Bike shop
Thrift store
Hair salon
Fashion boutique

All within four blocks of me
Nice, seems like there are mad hair salons and fashion boutiques black owned.

Never seen a black owned bike shop, :ohhh: them thrift stores where I’m at are usually Indian or middle-eastern owned

How many barbershops and restaurants if you had to guess?

Not interested in the entire city, only your general area. The area around your home, how things close to you that are black owned #s wise breh
You mean walking distance? Just 1 restaurant. :francis:

But I don't really live close to a small business strip. Mostly mainstream commercial outlets/stores.

I'm from Brooklyn and the main business I see owned by blacks are restaurants and in particular Caribbean restaurants. Also a few barbershops and salons. They closed down the Payless on church Ave and in its place is a beauty supply store full of weaves but in true fashion it's owned by Koreans :francis:

There's a black owned beauty supply store I go to when I need a new tag or brush that's out the way but I try to buy black whenever I can.

For the most part all the dry cleaners, laundromats , department stores, etc in my predominantly black neighborhood are not owned by blacks. A fukking shame.

Yeah, a younger breh owns it too. There's tons of bike shops in this area, but he's carved out a really good reputation among all of them, and has been here for quite a while now.

I'd say there were:
  • 2 barbershops I know for sure are Black owned.
  • 1 Black owned bar/restaurant by the crib
  • 1 African church
  • 1 Haitian church
  • 1 African corner store

Then compare that to all the Hispanic owned corner stores, laundromats, restaurants, barbershops, bakeries, churches, pawn shops, lawn care services, etc. in my immediate area.

I legit learned Spanish living here because you gotta know it to smash the baddest Latinas who just touched down.
I’m starting to see we might have the church and funeral home business on smash too. We seem to have babershops and hair salons on smash

We got them babershops, restaurants, and hair salons.

That is the common answer so far.

I'd say between maybe 12 to 15

A few barbershops
2 Haitian restaurants
1 Jamaican restaurant (There's 3 in my neighborhood but the other 2 are owned by a Chinaman and a Lebanese:francis:)
The McDonalds near my house is franchised by a black man (I know because he goes to my church)
There's a rich nikka from the Bahamas that has his hands in mad shyt (I don't even know where he got his money from) and he owns a laundromat, a pool hall and a check cashing/payday loan center

Oh yeah, i got a black owned funeral home around the corner too. Owned by the Harris family, with the son, Elihu being the last decent mayor of Oakland who served from 91-99.
