Did they end up in a position where they were forced to come up with an ending for a story that GRRM himself has struggled with for YEARS? Yes.

They are nowhere as good as writers as GRRM. That’s obvious. The plan wasn’t for them to create an ending from a couple of bullet points. Some shyt that GRRM himself has proven he can’t do. They were supposed to have the source material, but GRRM ain’t hold up his end of the bargain. Period. Their hands were forced. Either you halt production until whenever GRRM finishes the books or WoW (which I put at about 5% probability of happening), which at this point no one knows when it’ll happen or if it even does; or you try to do it yourself. They tried the latter and failed because they’re not GRRM, but they wouldn’t have been that position if it weren’t for GRRM.

GRRM has written himself into a corner with this story and has been stuck there for years. Those bullet points ain’t did nothing for his ass. If Stephen King had written these books they’d have a proper ending already. Ultimately, it’s GRRM fault he can’t finish the story.

i only started watching the show on the last season and it was truly bad and seems worse the more time passes. hard to see how it garnered such respect if the rest of the seasons are anywhere in the ballpark of that.

The realm was so fukked after TWoFK they decided to make the wisest and most benevolent of all peeps, King. The fact he can have no progeny would take away future wars, over succession.

People are so invested in these IP's that they co-opt they story and integrate and conflate what is happening to what they want to happen.

If you go check the season 8 thread....nobody gave a fukk about "getting what they want". If that's the type of fans "GOT" had then nobody would've watched after Ned died.

The problem was the rush job they did and the execution of pretty much every major plot point. Not the plot point itself.

Dany is the mad queen? Ok cool. The way it was handled? Amateur hour.

You can take that and apply it to virtually every plot development in the last season, big or small.

If you liked the final season ok cool....but don't lie about this shyt. Because what you're saying happened....is a bold faced lie.

Good job on not mentioning that they didn't rush the last two seasons with 13 episodes so they can move on to making the next Star Wars trilogy. Were their hands force to do that? Do you really believe that they put forth an honest effort in the last two seasons? Or did they just half assed so they can move on?

They did a great job with season 6 when they had a proper full season.

I am of the opinion that D&D are not the bad writers that was that clearly demonstrated in season 7 and 8 and that they were fully capable of delivering a worthy ending to GRRM's story, had they did a 10 episodes season, all the way up to season 10 with those damn "bullet points". But they kind of got tied of doing the show and wanted to move on.
