Good job on not mentioning that they didn't rush the last two seasons with 13 episodes so they can move on to making the next Star Wars trilogy. Were their hands force to do that? Do you really believe that they put forth an honest effort in the last two seasons? Or did they just half assed so they can move on?

They did a great job with season 6 when they had a proper full season.

I am of the opinion that D&D are not the bad writers that was that clearly demonstrated in season 7 and 8 and that they were fully capable of delivering a worthy ending to GRRM's story, had they did a 10 episodes season, all the way up to season 10 with those damn "bullet points". But they kind of got tied of doing the show and wanted to move on.

I think Benioff and Weiss thought they could have their cake and eat it too.

They probably thought they could rush the final season of "GOT", still produce a high quality product, then move directly onto Star Wars. Because the interviews leading up to the final season, they kept saying things like "we want to go out like 'Breaking Bad', that's our goal" and how they only want to leave fans satisfied.

At some point it became obvious they fell short of that mark....maybe in post production, or editing. Who knows? But their tone changed in interviews. They did one....I think it was Conan, and they said something like "we aren't gonna be anywhere near the finale when it airs, we're gonna be drunk and off the internet."

So yeah....they are talented writers but obviously not talented enough to pull off what they tried.

Honestly I noticed the decline in quality in season 7. When they started to time travel around Westeros it really ruined my immersion into that world, then the forced romance between Dany & Jon...

I think Jon & Dany could have been great but it wasn't really sold to me in the series. Unfortunately I have no desire to watch this series ever again, which is a shame because I really got into the lore when it was at its peak.

I have to point out how close to but not thorough you are. As anyone who really watched the wire from the beginning. Knows the series was originally a well done better take on the a typically hbo urban pisspoor quality stereotype cop and blow drama.
originally to turn it into a gritty urban world drama into a standard hbo real world premise meets strict cop show. Which was to bait and switch the viewership from its original barksdale origins. That had to be re-righted after the fan turn in the direction on season two. For this cop drama only based dynamic. Back into the barksdale origins content directionwise. Which was also glossed over by this so called contingent of experts on HBO content. Who have selective memory. or really do not know the crate like they allude to So again,...for So called media expert signing his name at the bottom of his posts.

I came back to this this thread several times and couldn't bring myself to open that wound back up. I will carry this pain to my death bed. And all of my friends and family will too. Cause I will remind them of this bullshyt right before they die. And prolly even GRRM's ending woulda been trash too cause bran becoming king is just garbage. and then you send Jon to go live in the forest?.....after all that character build up?....smh. I've avoided every GOT related discussion since that finale. What's really funny is how little discussion there actually is. It's almost like people just wiped GOT from their memory.


But all in all I still loved episode 3 despite the criticism. It should have ended right there looking back. That scene with the night king walking up to bran is prolly still the GOAT scene of the whole series. And we also got this all time blassic out of it. If you go check the season 8 thread....nobody gave a fukk about "getting what they want". If that's the type of fans "GOT" had then nobody would've watched after Ned died.

The problem was the rush job they did and the execution of pretty much every major plot point. Not the plot point itself.

Dany is the mad queen? Ok cool. The way it was handled? Amateur hour.

You can take that and apply it to virtually every plot development in the last season, big or small.

If you liked the final season ok cool....but don't lie about this shyt. Because what you're saying happened....is a bold faced lie.

I liked the final season, but this is 100% true..i guess i expected it to be pretty rushed and them saying “dont worry, 3 episodes will be feature film length” didnt really help deter me from feeling that way. They fukked it up as clearly that last season should have been 3 seasons worth of material....but with them not being great writers in general that may have put this show in Walking Dead seasons 7&8 territory. But at the end of the day, it is what it is.
