The argument of “such and such athlete never failed a drug test” is a moot point ever since lance armstrong. Dude was tested over 500 times and everybody knew he was on steroids yet he never failed a drug test and nobody could prove it.
But he got caught because....
somebody proved it.
He was blood doping and all the moving parts to get that done, at some point he was going to get busted. It was a conspiracy involving more than 5 people.
Jamaica has always been good at sprinting, especially given the relatively small population. Before people were taking PEDs, Jamaica was winning medals in sprinting (1952 Herb McKenley should have won gold but another dodgy USA photo finish) Donald Quarrie 1976 olympics, gold in the 200m.
80s come around, USA vs Russia pissing contest so both sides are doing whatever they can to win. Most sprinters are doping, Jamaica not doing anything significant in track and field. 90s come around and Jamaica start making noise again, which also coincides with stricter drug testing. Donovan Bailey, born in Jamaica wins 100 gold in 96 Olympics, Merlene Ottey screwed on another photo finish with an American.
The fact that Jamaica dominated track and field in 2005-2016 is a testament to great drug testing. USA is dominating again, so y'all must have found a new cheat code.
