That's what I'm saying, these airheads can't catch the underlying meaning of the song. Of those 17 minutes of talking about the song only the last minute was about Nas.Don't know if this has been posted. But Cole explained this song, and the trouble of making a single at the Listening party. Good stuff.

I think its just the cheese factor of the hook and its overall forced-guilt that kills it for people. Instead of being a confessional "Dear Diary" type record, he forces this "disappointing Nas" (who cares) element to it
He's using corny new-age hip-hop baiting tactics to get an extremely simple message across. Artistic compromise and guilt, are nothing new however. Basically stretching out Hov's "forgive me, Hip-Hop" hook-line-and-sinker on Moment of Clarity. He shouldve named it "Cool Story Bro" and called it a day.

The song is weird to.me cause it's not like Nas even came to dude directly and shytted on him...No I.D came to Cole and told him Nas wasnt feelin the track..he expected more..but No I.D shoulda kept that convo between him and Nas instead of runnin his mouth about a non issue...u can't be a hypocrite for not liking a song or thinkin someone ur a fan of can do better..people turning it into some shyt like Nas shytted on Cole for makin a commercial single which ain't true...

Nas's criticism is just the vehicle to make said record. Which is more about label politics, making radio friendly records that goes against what you really want to make, and competing with your idols.
