No grown man should care about another grown man, that they don't know, that much. I know a lot of people who work harder than Kobe in real life. Not practicing basketball and honing skills to game that means nothing in the grand scheme of things, and I still don't worship him the way ya'll worship Kobe.

A lot of it has to do with the journey. Kobe fans weren't this passionate before Colorado and the whole Shaq fiasco. Kobe was and still is the most hated man in basketball.
