50 music aged like shyt, Ja got mainstay records that have a place in today's society, 50 got many men, hate or live it, and in the club

the world never fukked with his street music, all his fame and success came off the commercial singles and they all dated, and don't get any burn

Versus exposes who really got the music and who don't

I thought he was gonna win for a couple of reasons. 1) He has a deeper catalogue to pull from 2) Ja Rule's singles were bullshyt THEN, they sound even worse now.

I underestimated how much Ja Rule's run meant to people of a certain age bracket, and I think Joe tried to play music for the demo he thought would be there, but they weren't there.

Bingo...

as for Ja vs 50...a lot of factors influence this, I don't think a lot of 50's radio singles aged well, plus he's literally been the same immature clown for the past 18-19 years, while some cornballs online find him funny, a lot more people who are clearly 18-19 years older find his act to be corny and annoying. not having the same juice/goodwill he once did is gonna play into perception of any battle he's in, but especially vs ja

What happened is we tend to overrate Fat Joe, lol, that's really what was clear last night. Say what you want about Ja Rule, but at one time he was a factor out here for real for real, he was really doing his thing and selling triple platinum consecutively and shaking shyt up. Has Fat Joe ever even went platinum? I'm serious, lol. I honestly don't even know if he's went Gold more than maybe once.

It "feels" like he's a big dog but he's really not at all and never was, he is strictly a "feature" dude, whether someone is letting him be featured on their hit or whether he has a big dog stealing the show on his record. He's basically French Montana...I made a thread about this not too long ago and yall shytted on the kid and proclaimed your love for Fat Joe and his resume...I feel vindicated. :lolbron:

I'm not gonna lie I've been recently on a Fat Joe kick cause I was on a Pun kick and decided to give dude a chance, and I liked some of this shyt alot. Don Cartagena, Jose, Darkside Albums, all of those are decent to great albums. But Ja caught a filthy body last night, 3:36 and Venni Vetti Vicci are great albums I used to fw as a kid, by the time Pain Is Love came out I had jumped ship to the Unit tho :yeshrug:

But Ja Rule really did he his own on tracks with Jay and X and even more, Fat Joe never did something like thatyrically he wasn't even remotely the nicest in his own clique

33, stick to the topic at hand. Jay & X were the top artists at Def Jam at the time. Ja was right behind them.

so you went from the biggest artists in the world to now the biggest at def jam Lmaoooooo glad you saw the error in your ways because I had no idea what the hell you’re talking about

it's probably closer than you think.

Also it depends on what's played, when.

They would both concentrate with shyt at their peaks, so we probably wouldn't get shyt passed 2007
What ja gonna do when 50 drops back down, I smell p*ssy etc and then after that or before that he plays the skits?

So who were the biggest artists in 99? They were Jay, X & Ja. This was after BIG & Pac's passing.

Ja Rule's hits are structurally better songs and overall more memorable.

And while i'm at it, in retrospect, Clap Back was heat.

Nothing on Massacre is anything i'd play in my whip today. Or anything G Unit did past 2005.

I did enjoy Ayo Tech and Infant By Me (Be A Millionaire).

Nah, last night was also about stage presence and keeping the crowd in your corner. 50 is a professional troll, he could neutralize the crowd reception to some of Ja's biggest hits just by talking shyt.
