It means exactly what he said. WRITING PARTNER nikka. Meaning they write songs together. If I got a nikka who I’m in a group with and he writes most of the hooks and concepts and I write the rhymes. That’s my fukking WRITING PARTNER.

It could be more exclusive than that ( i.e Res and Santi Gold). Its vague until its explained by the artist exactly what it entails. Like you just did.

The fukk is a writing partner anyway :russ:

nikkas really out here acting like this is a common phrase in hiphop.

I've never heard an emcee say he has a writing partner in my life :hubie:

Basically lets say you and me get in a studio together and start freestyling. I say a dope little line that you like and you take it and build a verse around it and vice versa. Most groups do this. From Wu-Tang, Outkast, UGK, etc. the Roots as a group are no exception.

This is NOT Ghostwriting. This basically “you make it a hot line. I make it a hot song.”

Above the fray.
Writing Partner is more exclusive than writing team, whatever that may be :sas2:

That's really an r&b/other genre's outside of rap term. Marvin, Stevie, Beyonce (:mjlol: ultimate non writer, some folks think she's that deal though), and etc. All critically acclaimed writers by folks and had someone helping them write at some point/or some projects.

Cats fail to realize dope writers sometimes need a boost themselves, writers block isnt relegated to just novelist and etc.

Someone like Drake who doesnt write at all is where the wack shyt comes into play.
Black Thought's actual words refute a lot of the stuff that was written in this thread. Sad to see some of the grown men in here not willing to walk back those earlier comments.

I've gone through this before, so it's disappointing but not surprising.

Before I dug up the BT quote, I speculated that he used Dice as a sounding board and inspiration in the studio. Dice is still hungry and is in street cyphers and underground spots. Thought is far removed from that, so I thought Dice connected him to that energy.
Didn't know that Dice was Thought's all out writing PARTNER until he said it on camera.

As the only emcee in a group full of musicians, Thought was right about how he could spit anything in front of them and they'd be impressed. Another emcee is going to challenge and push him.

The Clipse had a small circuit of splitters in their entourage. And they would have rap boot camps and war games to keep their bars up. I think Ab-liva from Philly (Major Figgaz) was part of that.

They write together. They don't write for each other. Ghost & Rae write together, they're partners and been called writing partners by each of them. They don't write for each other, but they have used each other's lines. Same instance.

Liva, Sandman, Rosco, Philly's Most Wanted and 1/2 of the Figgas all wrote together - be in studios/chillin/wherever. Hell, whenever Clipse/LOX whoever in Philly, it's spit bars on site. And Thought is as much in street cyphers as Dice...The only difference is Dice may spit with Scorp da Boy, Reed, Vodka, Hollow Man, while Thought will be in cyphers with Peedi, Beans, Chris, Reef, Jakk Frost, Jade etc.

Quest is the ultimate cornball.

I remember a thread on OKP where he was in some building (maybe where he lives, I don't remember) and he was about to get in the elevator and some white broad was there.

This nikka proceded to explain how he made himself seem as unthreatening and polite as he possible could, only for the white chick to still act scared of him.

nikka went on to rant about how upset he was about it.

He wanna be accepted by them folks so bad.
sounds to me like typical shyt Black people go through in society nothing corny. he just wanted piece of mind. you the real herb for carrying that story and confining it to memory to convict him with it. y'all prove everyday why nikkaz have no collective power like jews. Black people hate on Black people for the most trivial retarded shyt. Last week it was Nick Cannon now it's Quest and the roots.

that's some real solidarity on display there brehs. next week I can't wait to see who gets called corny and c00ns while fakkits who terrorize their communities get real nikka badges of honor.
