She's disregarding her responsibility to young black girls she markets her music to. Stop.its disgusting
Once again her ONLY responsibility is making the music that makes her happy. So there’s that. I’m done here.

I also wanted to point out how I love the colorfulness of the "Make You Feel" video.:wub:

It ain’t about you and it not about me neither. It’s about none of us except for Janelle Monáe.

You clearly don't look at my posts, I never complain about lack of good music. I'm all over that r&b thread dropping gems people are overlooking - the people who are actually complaining about no good music. I also find plenty of rappers, DJ's, indie, and electric music artists/songs I love on a weekly basis. So miss me with the strawman blanket statements about coli tastes/complaints when they don't apply to me :ld:

Edit: and be honest, you seem to get real right over wale and meek too
You still can't seem to provid with me something better than I posted .

Wale is talented he's just acts like a entitled bish.

Meek is more than what people try to make him be .

That's all I try to tell people about them

I don't say you have to like his music .

Janelle nahh you hate good music if you not feeling her .

Like I said she embodies black music and you should question yourself .

Speaking about her pass work don't know direction shawty heading in with this new stuff :hubie:

I love Janelle Monae. She seems to be going a more edgy route with the sound. Im wondering how fans will feel about the sexier content cause some people only want her to be a role model. Im cool with it though.

Lol. Basically. I like it here so far, but I feel like this forum’s taste in music is very 1-dimensional.

To add, Janelle is an album artist. Not someone you listen to just for singles. There’s the difference. You have to listen to her albums in full to completely understand. That’s one of the things I respect about her.

Also, it’s really telling that The Coli is the only forum I’m on who’s trashing the songs. They’re being received well everywhere else.

In terms of the sound of the music in her disocography, I would say The Audition is R&B and foreshadows what’s to come with the Android series. Metropolis: The Chase is Pop with those elements carrying over into The ArchAndroid (which includes some R&B influenced songs too) in there. Actually that album is multi-genred with folk and classical elements too. Electric Lady is more R&B/urban with some Pop elements.. and goes back to her roots a little bit with with the The Audition.

“Make Me Feel” is more for the pop/radio crowd and then “D’Jango Jane” is more for the urban crowd. I think both songs serve different purposes. I can see what Jane was doing with releasing the two at the same time.

Honestly, I don’t mind the profanity. Artists use it all the time. As long as the music/melodies are great.

The music is great imo. You just can't take seeing another side of Janelle that you aren't used to. Apart of being a great artist is being able to take risks and try different things while being true to who they are, which I believe she's doing. There is nothing about these new songs that are screaming for fame. She's just being herself. Once again, she doesn't owe anyone anything. It's her responsibility to make the music that makes HER happy first and foremost. And if you or anyone else don't like it, then that is on y'all. I can respect what Janelle is doing and once again I'm very excited for what's to come.

Once again her ONLY responsibility is making the music that makes her happy. So there’s that. I’m done here.
