The Devil's Advocate
Call me Dad
You and Art keep gliding over the pointAfter 2007? Eminem. Jay has been blessed with some of the greatest beats and production ever, yet ruins it as soon as he starts rapping. Song ruined. Eminem has had some of the worst beats ever and set them joints ablaze. And frankly, em's newer music is more relatable than Jay's if we wanna take it there. Not afraid is a very relatable song about overcoming an addiction or struggle. Deja vu is an eerie tale of being in the middle of drug addiction. You're never over is a tribute to a fallen homie. Going thru changes is being in the middle of depression and dealing with it. All real life issues. All his other bullshyt is just entertainment, only on the Coli do people try and "relate" and take it seriously. What's relatable about Picasso baby and tom ford
Look prince was technically better. He played instruments and had ill arrangements and was a fukking legend
But when you hop in the car you throwing on Michael first. Cause the music was hitting.
I don't sit around listening to Jay like "hmmmmm how does this relate to my life"
I listen to music in total. Beats, rhymes, flow, hook... You know. A total song
I am not able to just subtract a trash ass beat, corny hook, and lyrics I don't care about and say "but damn he rhymed that multi back to back 24 times in 6 bars bro"
I appreciate it. I'll hit the "wooooooo". I'll rewind it back.
But I'm not riding around listening to that shyt. Cause the music is terrible. I'm not in the club focusing on lyrics. Which is why em has no club music. Which is crazy cause he got Dre.
Now why is it em did all this before. First 3 albums was full of masterful beats and he still kept the skill tip top and still made great music
Now the beats suck by y'all owns words. And the classics are ten times better than the current. But somehow I'm not supposed to factor that in when talking about rap music?
