Got them Missy/lyricism receipts? :russell:
I'm not sure that I can post a receipt to prove that Missy isn't "hardcore".
M.O.P. is hardcore. Mobb Deep is hardcore. Illmatic is hardcore. Wu is hardcore. Beats and rhymes. Missy is goofy and raps like a cartoon character over Timbo beats. Do remember...I haven't heard a complete Missy album. I'm going off the singles. So if she's got some hardcore album cuts...I wouldn't know. :manny:

As for lyricism, great hip hop often has an emcee just blacking out and killing shyt. I'm not talking about "technical" shyt. And I don't get bogged down in nerdy discussion with big words. If a rapper is killing shyt - he's lyrical. That's not the dictionary definition - but that's how we've always talked about this shyt. :manny:
I don't see how that killed hip hop. :dwillhuh:

A Mississippi Cotton Field
nice song for when my old antisocial ass trying to grocery shop and folks that work there wanna conversate cause I'm in there a lot.

Outside of that, a lotta subliminal biting and umadding at folks that's dead or depleted.

the blueprint 2 album was a pile of hot dodo though :scusthov:
One of the biggest lies told on the internet.

The album was just not cohesive and sounds like a mixtape because it's just too many songs.

That's literally the only issues. The album was't put together well enough to justify people listening for a hour and a half straight.

That definitely wouldn't be the word I would use to describe Run DMC. But they've got some hardcore shyt I guess. Sucka MCs.

Check this out:

Hardcore hip hop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Run-D.M.C. have been credited as the first hardcore hip hop group

Gangsta rap has been associated with the style; however, not all hardcore hip hop revolve around "gangsta" lyrical themes, even though there is a great deal of overlap, especially among hardcore rappers of the 1990s

I agree that hardcore isn't just about subject matter.
While on the one hand, its kind of ridiculous for you to point to a Wikipedia article on hardcore hip hop :sas1:
On the other hand...Missy isn't on that list :sas2:

I knew you'd bring that up with your trolling ass. Wiki is just the fastest to post and this isn't an MLA research paper. You can google "Run DMC hardcore" and find a gang of articles talking about how Run DMC were the first hardcore group.

Caccing Stone: Run-D.M.C. Biography

Zulu Nation: Untitled Document

XXL Mag: Today in Hip-Hop: Run-DMC Drop their Debut Album, ‘Run-DMC’ - XXL

Songkick: Run DMC

And frankly, it's obvious that Run DMC were hardcore and probably the first to do it on that level. Their whole style was rough, full of bravado and street.

Now that we've established Run DMC is hardcore, is it safe for me to move on to Missy?

Rolling Stone? :scust:
Songkick? :scust:
That's what's good in the streets nowadays for receipts? :dame:
And that Zulu Nation article just says that Sucka MCs was the first hardcore record :usure:
I don't think the XXL article even says the word hardcore :patrice:

Again, Run DMC wouldn't be my example of hardcore hip hop. You want to give them the pioneer credit for being the first to dress like cats from the streets instead of the village people? :yeshrug:
They had some hard beats :yeshrug:
They had a lot of beats with rock samples too :yeshrug:
Find another way.

:snoop:

The hardcore, rap bravado exhibited by Run-DMC on their debut album was meant for hip-hop fans to stop and pay attention to.

This conversation isn't gonna work if you spend more time playing contrarian than reading.

And rock samples were probably considered hardcore back then (also their way of crossing over to cacs).

We agree that Run DMC were a hardcore hip hop act? Can I move on?
