We have zero chance at competing this season if we start a QB that can't stretch the field. Chip must see it too. Hell at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Gabbert doesn't start next week.

Nah I can't see him not starting next week. Only if he's injured somehow.

He'll start, it will a real stinker to get that ball rolling

This team has a very good foundation of young players especially on defense

Armstead was doing spin moves and sh!t

The thing is if he had this statline but had zero interceptable balls aka Alex smith special I'd consider it fine.

However dude literally had 4 throws that could've been easily picked, with at least two of them potentially pick sixes :francis:

Obviously they aren't gonna pull him after a win plus if a qb is benched it turns into some controversy stuff, but I personally would like to see Kaep vs Panthers. We losin anyway might as well see what Kaep can do with a good pass blocking oline. Gabbert might have been a better option when oline was breaking apart every play because of his quick release, but Kaep might be a better option if pocket can hold

Yes Gabbert got lucky as hell with dropped picks I was shocked because honestly Gabbert seemed significantly worse than he was last year

Gabbert is terrible :heh: There is no way you can convince me he is better than a healthy Kap. The heat will be on by week 2.

If the high mark of his perforrmance is his scrambling ability, which isn't on the same stratosphere as Kap, you know it's time to pull him.

I honestly think Kaep sucks scrambling now because he is too soon to pull it down and scrambles into pressure aside from away from it.

Gabbert played well last season, his perfromance sucked but saying he is terrible is a bit much, but I know where you stand in this so you definitely would rather it be one way than the other

Says the guy who has been pulling for Kap to tank since Smith got benched :francis:

If Kap turned in a performance like Gabbert last night you'd be saying he's done.

Like everybody else, I thought Gabberts performance was underwhelming and uninspiring. The defense looked good, but I think they had some help from the Rams offense.

Next week will be a good test for the Defense. I'm not expecting much from Gabbert moving forward (not that I was anyways).

The o-line gave up ZERO sacks against that rams D-line. That's the biggest positive from this game
Not many pressures either

Martin devey boone pears

:camby:

I remember last year in St. Louis that Rams line destroyed this line, it was fuking pathetic

I watched Kaep regress over 4 seasons I had enough

You've watched 9 Gabbert 49er games
This board has an archive, if I cared enough I could pull up the posts where you were saying you were not sold on Kap from every moment from his first start to the SB to the Championship games etc. You didnt give the dude a single game :heh:

What you saw last night is Blaine Gabberts ceiling. If he's really on maybe he can check down and scramble his way to another td drive. There will be no explosive plays that take the top off the defense. At worst Kaep can give you what Blaine gave yesterday, with more upside. If this defense is top3 in the league, then yea I think Blaine can manage the games like Alex Smith did during the Harbaugh era, but when you get closer to the play offs you have to be able to stretch the field. Too early to tell how good the D is tho, although I think they are good, how good is the question.

gabbert was terrible last night and isn't a good QB, but we knew that already. if the 9ers are gonna be competitive this season then it's gonna come down to the defense and run game.

-our o-line did better than i expected vs the Rams which is a great sign.

-the Rams o-line was straight garbage so it's hard to give a proper evaluation on our front 7 and keenum missed several open WRs that would've kept some of their drives alive.

hard to say how we'll finish but i still think it'll be 6 wins. our QB pressure will be a lot better once lynch is back.
