AFTER HE'S MADE HIS MONEY!!! That nikka is the same age as me. You don't think he knew in his 30s going into his 40s that his music was wrong? Stop making excuses for these guys. If you don't complain about the BS when you're on top and contributing to it, don't complain about it when you're not the hot artist. Simple as that. He could have made a difference when he was on top!! As for fronting, I assume you've never read my hip hop posts. I've never in my life bought or listened to a Jeezy album. I always thought this nikka was garbage. What happened is that I finally listened to his debut 2 years ago when guys from a podcast suggested I should hear it. I picked a day and listened to it and thought it was decent. Not my cup of tea, but it was good. But trust me, I NEVER listened to any Jeezy, Gucci, Future, etc... If you don't believe that, then you obviously have never read any of my posts

I was being facetious with that….

Jeezy was a glorified cartoon character like Gucci. Only difference was fell back on the Trap Talk once Big Meech got sent away.

Jeezy lived every past lyric like Master P did.

Gucci is a perfect example of someone living out their music still as a rapper.

It’s crazy because that TM101 album was getting play everywhere. What rock was u hiding under ??? Did u not see everyone copping a DJ Drama tape.

Jeezy wasn’t that garbage.

It ain’t like he was spitting nonsense like Lil Wayne

All I'm saying is that it's not that he was promoting this music, because I listened to gangster rap and all, it's just that outside of the music, he was giving interviews claiming to be what he was rapping. Just like Rick Ross. We knew Boss wasn't a gangster and others, but some guys just couldn't turn off that image they portrayed on record.

Jeezy was no different than Plies…

Talked hard on records but in real life, the complete opposite.

Only difference is that Jeezy didn’t get whipped although he looked kinda soft at the verzuz.

All that putting your hands on me and Kinky B gonna kill u talk was so manufactured after Gucci hoed him on stage.

Yeah cause that's what the "streets" want to listen to. These guys don't get label attention until they're buzzing in their local area.
It’s not what the “streets” want to listen to, it’s what young white teens want to listen to. The buzz that artists like lil baby for instance generate in the streets is how these labels find the artists, but the commercial success and investment is due to the consumption by white teens and young adults.

Jeezy rapped about killing nikkas and flooding his neighborhoods with drugs for decades and made his millions. Now he grown and sexy and gets a pass? Nah Jeezy was on this shyt too and inspired thousands of YNs to “trap or die”.
It’s called growth. I’m pretty sure you’re not the same person you were 20 years ago.

man im tired of this shyt. We're 50+ years into rap we need to let go of that victim mentality and take our shyt back.

Labels can only put out and monetize of the shyt you record so stop killing nikkas on records and it'll stop being the popular subject. There's millions of ways of getting your music out and becoming successful without labels who is just a bank operating like a check cashing place.

The worst thing of it all is that we are underestimating the power we hold in all of entertainment. Black artists drive trends so we can make anything we want popular.

Never underestimate white supremacy. Conscious music was popular and making money at a time. It is not anymore because they made it that way. Marketing controls everything, and even more now in the algorithm era
Exactly. In the 80s you had acts like run DMC, big daddy Kane, grandmaster flash, LL Cool J, public enemy, Eric b and Rakim, who were either conscious or promoted positivity. They had a majority black audience and this was a time when white america didn’t embrace hip-hop.

Then, in the 90’s when hip-hop made its way into white homes, now the gangsta music starts getting promoted because young white suburban kids were fascinated with this foreign and edgy lifestyle. Gangsta rapper artists/groups like NWA ironically had a majority white audience.

Black people still make conscious music like we always have done. The only difference is now black consumers have to compete with white consumers who due to white supremacy, have a larger economic base. The labels are going to sell to the audience who has the most money to spend on music consumption ie concerts, merch, album sale etc.

Well he should grow some more and realize he ain't the first nikka to come to that conclusion and he won't be the last. Like he really cracked the code.

Until nikkas take ownership of their own product the same talking points will be regurgitated on a loop and nothing will change. Yns won't gaf unless you putting money in they pocket. Cac execs won't gaf about being shamed unless your actions threaten to take money out they pocket. That's the game.

Moral victories have gotten no one anywhere in life.

If he promotes the drug dealing lifestyle he’s wrong and if he stops promoting the drug dealing lifestyle, he’s still wrong. So in other words, he can’t win?

My point is exactly as i said in the very first sentence of my post. People are way too eager to showcase their surface level knowledge of things without taking the time to understand the mechanics of why things are the way they are. He's pretty much like sharif from menace ii society now. Latched onto the first thing he heard that sounded good and wants to preach. We have 2 eyes and ears and one mouth for a reason. He ain't done growing yet.

The people want whatever is marketed most to them. If it was positivity then it would become what people wanted. It’s how marketing works
exactly. The brainless will consume whatever you want them to consume. Rappers had a bunch of dudes walking around looking like fakkits years ago in tight ass clothes because they wanted to blend in with the popular crowds.
