I wonder what he means by that L.A. Reid/Shakir Stewart comment? I'm good friends with his brother and nobody still knows what went down with his suicide...5 years later everyone still has questions...
Shake brought Jeezy (and Ross) to Def Jam w/ the promise that he'd be taken care of since they knew/felt Jeezy would say "fukk rap" and stay in the streets til he got a good deal. Shakir assured Jeezy this business would be easy for him as long as he's around. Shake was LA's right hand man til his untimely death :to:
Everyone in the industry knows what happened to Shake. He was gonna be a Clive Davis type of mogul. Dude signed Ciara, Jeezy, Ross and so many top tier artists that eventually blew up. Wanted to be just like him.

Jeezy is supposed to be a Super Street Smart Hustler.. Why he crying about a label?.. Why dont he just go Indy. He too far in the game to be threatening the label, lol

stupid ass post, Ross has yet to outsell jeezy. nikka has yet to go platinum. He only has a 1 gold album.

I said ross sales went up and jeezy sales went down. It's a simple concept are you going to put money behind a person that is losing sales or one that is gaining sales.

jeezy was going plat though on a consistent basis so his dropoff Is understandable because everybody who was going plat back then sales dropped so that argument really dosent make sense, like somebody said ross is always promoting himself and always appear on radio shows, interviews, he helps promote his own artist when he isn't dropping anything ect, nikkas ain't heard anything from jeezy since its the world which dropped almost a year ago, jeezy has a very loyal fanbase which is why he always sells good but he isn't good at all in promoting himself.

It's a simple concept are you going to put money behind someone that has grown in sales or someone that is losing sales? Jeezy and ross came out the sametime.

He can't just release an album, he is locked into a contract.

What's weird about all this is that Jeezy is on a song that is a top 20 hit right now so it's not like he has 0 buzz.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
me being dead wrong about the sales.... jeezy has still constantly outsold ross... i'm not saying this to shyt on ross tho

but a lot of older rappers REFUSE to get with the times. they still sitting around waiting on the label.. 50 cent ruined that shyt.

50 proved two things.. you can blow up without the label.. and the label can have you promote yourself without them

while the first part is good, the second part means the label puts less money and effort into promoting you. they don't look for talent anymore. they look for hits and buzz. if you ALREADY got a hit and buzz, they will find you, and pay you to ride your wave.

but most old rappers still think, "oh i got signed, i'm on the label, they should be promoting me.. what i look like signing a deal, then paying to do everything.. i could have done that myself" they want it back to the days of, i rap, i turn in the album, i do shows, i get money... everything else involved is on the labels

nikkas need to realize THE LABELS AIN'T DOING THAT shyt NO MORE!! why you think they forcing these 360 deals? cause they know you gonna promote yourself and get that money elsewhere if they don't treat you right.. so go ahead and do that, cause we get a cut from that too

in the end you've blew up off your own money, music and videos.. just to get signed and they take away your pub and masters.. only to be on a label that expects you to use your own money to put out music and videos.. then do shows and features.. all that they get a piece of... and when your albums drop.. if ever.. you only get pennies off that..
