And I could show a game where Sanchez played good, what's your point ? In that game all I saw was a QB badly trying to make plays because he's under intense pressure to do so. With lack of run game and good receivers, you put a QB in a situation like that.

Sanchez has less than 5 good games his entire career so have at it hoss

and the reason i put the Titans game up because that;s probably the worst qb play ive ever seen in the NFL. I watched the Neil Odonnell teams too. Sanchez was worse.

I think certain people just don't like Sanchez just because. I see Jets fans right now saying they're rooting for Mcelroy and dude is trash.

Y'all have some high expectations if you expected Sanchez to play good with no receivers or a run game.

There are a lot of bad things Sanchez does that has zero to do with his teammates.

he's terribly inaccurate within 5 yards....he fumbles every time he gets hit...doesnt step up in the pocket/has zero feel for the pocket...cant hit receivers in stride

All that is wrong expect he does have some accuracy issues. So how quickly will Jets fans turn on Geno ? Sanchez plays in NY where people want results asap, their not given the chance to be groomed, and Sanchez has been groomed terribly.

My Pops Forever RIP
and again, hate to pound my point home for the 12983938th time on this board, but you DONT NEED a qb to 'carry a team on his shoulders'. thats actually a bad thing most of the time.

Great teams have that guy though, including your Niners. The goal is to be great, right? Does getting a great QB fix everything? No, but it fixes your biggest issue going forward. No shame in wanting to do that.

As for the rest, that's part of why I didn't wanna draft Geno. This team needs help everywhere and given how bad we'd be, we'd get a better QB next year to enter a better situation. They'll ease Geno in if they're smart.

You didn't say ball security issues, you said he gets fumbled every time he is hit, which isn't true.

I'm certain people rather see Sanchez fail than actually become a good qb, I know tremont does :krs:

no one is arguing that sanchez isnt a bust relative to his draft position
no one is saying hes a good qb or anything.

however, like you say, the jets have failed to sustain an environment for developing a qb. they are about to commit the same mistake with geno if they are to throw him in the fire.

and again, hate to pound my point home for the 12983938th time on this board, but you DONT NEED a qb to 'carry a team on his shoulders'. thats actually a bad thing most of the time.

teams are too busy trying to find top 10 qb and fap to him then actually build a team and BUILD a top 10 qb with the team. you can call it hiding behind a good team or whatever, the fact is you need a good TEAM to win it all anyway. and if thats the case, why dont start building a TEAM and then creating an environment where a rookie qb can thrive in ?

trying to find a qb in a crapshoot who can turn a team of bums into winners, is a dumb and lazy person's way out.

the point is jets have a million problems everywhere, but people think if they SUDDENLY get a good talented qb they will stop. they won't.

but the mistake was in the actual personnel not the philosophy behind the moves. the jets tried to give sanchez weapons, they were just duds. the thing that needed to change was the gm needed to identify quality players better. we won't know until further into idzik's regime if he's better at talent evaluation than tannenbaum.. but to say the jets didn't TRY to surround sanchez with talent is false.

i'm not arguing the point that you should build a good team.. i don't think anyone would argue that point. it seems glaringly obvious that a qb doesn't win super bowls by himself.

it doesn't make sense to wait until you have a complete team to draft a qb. because the qb is probably going to need a couple years to really get acclimated to the nfl. it's still an option to sit geno.. it's not like he's a guaranteed starter. let the qb grow with the rest of the team. no one is saying feed him to the wolves. but the jets team isn't THAT bad. the line is still anchored by goldman and brick. we drafted like 4 lineman this year. holmes is coming back, kerley is a nice slot wr and ivory/goodson is a decent rb combo. the more i think about it, the more i like the idea of sanchez testing the waters.. but the jets aren't completely devoid of talent like some want to believe.

i feel like that was actually one of the biggest reasons that sanchez's development didn't go as smoothly. he had a veteran team around him and then they stuck him in there and said "just don't screw up." this was especially true his second year since they had success his first season. they truly went for "win it now" mode with a second year sanchez.

i don't think anyone believes geno is our savior. the jets didn't take him in the 1st, they didn't move up to get him in the 2nd. he fell to them and they made the move.

qbs shouldn't be relied on to win games by themselves.. but, they need to have the ability to score points when the defense falters. sanchez didn't have the ability. if the jets were down 14, it was pretty much guaranteed that they were going to lose. and he couldn't be relied on to protect a 7 point lead.

you can't win with game managers anymore because there are too many points being scored. that's why the niners made the move to kaep. alex smith had turned into a great game manager coupled with the niners defense. but harbaugh knew that it wouldn't be enough. just take a look at the playoffs.

niners, seattle, baltimore.. awesome defenses. but when it came down to it, they needed to drop 30+ to win games. alex smith wasn't gonna do that against elite defenses. sanchez will never be that guy either.

people aren't looking for top 10 qbs thinking it means automatic super bowl. but it also means your team will always be competitive.

the jets do have a lot of problems. but qb is one of them. i haven't seen ANY jets fan say that all our problems are solved because of geno. people are just saying that the SANCHEZ problem is solved because of geno. i don't even see too many thinking smith will become an elite qb. it's just that a lot of us have grown tired of watching sanchez fail over and over again. why is it such a sin for us to be happy to see a new face at qb?

we just went through a season with sanchez, tebow and mcelroy taking snaps at qb. we can't be happy that we drafted geno?
