Gangs lost their purpose when the drugs were flooded in and jobs were taken out of communities. Then it became the wild wild west and codes of honor were thrown out the window.

the black community is okay
there's room for improvement, as there is in any community
but psychologically, people aren't gonna have any drive to do anything when we even treat ourselves like a fix up job
it's like people's first instinct is to preach about the terrible job we're doing as black people before just being a comrade (this preaching excluded )

One thing I will say its easy for Black folks with sense to end up regurgitating White Supremacist talking points. We often think of how we didnt get caught up in the Bull and look at people in the hood like "man why are these women just sleeping around popping out babies" "why are these young dudes so damn pathetic". Its easy to point your finger at the end result of something but it also isn't fair. We HAVE to talk about the root cause of the issues at hand in order to take care of it so the problem can end. Until we look at the root case then we will continue to have generations of hood rats popping out young goons who will kill our people.

Like people really want to ignore a lot of these young dudes were either dumped off at relatives homes or lived with abusive mothers on top of went to schools that literally had zero funding and teachers who dont give a damn about the kids, and are only their because 1. they are old and about to retire or 2. they are there on some teach for america BS because they couldn't find a job with their degree.

Kids look up to people who have tangible things, and the only people they see with tangible things such as cars and houses are low lifes. The c00n elders in the community refuse to look at themselves where they dropped the ball in the past and just love pointing the finger not realizing they played a hand in this mess also.

Everybody is different. Root cause is not the same for all. There are siblings with the same exact upbringing who carry themselves completely different. There are kids in the hood and suburban areas who parents take great care of them and they are full fledged gangsters. There are kids who have nobody but still strive to do well in school and not fall to ills of the streets. It's all about personal responsibility.

impoverished Black people will ALWAYS gravitate to gangs as long as the system of white supremacy exists. Black people's individual powerlessness is very apparent and as a member of a gang those individuals have a sense of power, they have "backup" they can rely on and that's a powerful motivator for gang members to do ANYTHING for their fellow gang members.
