@ thinking their music wasn't soulful. You wasn't listening to Jodeci then. These were my nikkas growing up. I liked Boyz II Men too but Jodeci was the first major R&B group to make crossover music with rappers, the constant trend now. Still have my Jodeci shirts and posters.

Jodeci is easily the best R&B band or group of the 90's. All three of their albums are classics.

LOL...... Jodeci's image was 100% down to Puffy much as I hate to credit that leach....Puffy was the one that put Jodeci and Mary J blige in the construction boots and had them all thugged out....
Obviously he wasnt responsible for their talent and sound which was all Devante but the image was all his idea....
If you really want to go back Bell Biv Devoe were the first to start really merging that hip hop image with RnB

G.O.A.T. R&B group ever.
The Show, The Afterparty, The Hotel is one of the greatest concept records of all time and one of the greatest produced albums of all time. shyt still sounds fresh til this day.
all three albums absolute classics.

if you talk male r&b groups, during the early-mid '90s, im seeing alot of jodeci & boyz II men in here but on some real chit, niccas know that you could easily put h-town and silk as the best 2 groups from that era.
and thats not even counting BBD, guy & blackstreet. then you gotta pay your respects to groups like mint condition & tony toni tone. and im leaving out a couple more majors. and thats just the male groups. what about the female groups?
its like one big tossup for that era. thats how ill it was. nobody was the clear-cut winner. some had better record deals than others tho.
i dont know about all that. their 3rd album is the only classic.
the 1st 2 joints were the best thing ever in the 1st half of those albums, but the 2nd half of both those jawns was in cruise control like a muthasucka.
one thing they did have locked up by far was the singles game. no group in music PERIOD was touching jodeci with the singles in the '90s & beyond.

Jodeci and BIIM was in a class of their own. BIIM is timeless and ageless. Jodeci is great vibe, aura, and music all in one. Both are legendary. BBD, Dru Hill, En Vogue, and SWV are a tier below.
