LOL...... Jodeci's image was 100% down to Puffy much as I hate to credit that leach....Puffy was the one that put Jodeci and Mary J blige in the construction boots and had them all thugged out....

Obviously he wasnt responsible for their talent and sound which was all Devante but the image was all his idea....

If you really want to go back Bell Biv Devoe were the first to start really merging that hip hop image with RnB

yep. a bunch of north carolina niccas dressed like new yorkers cuz andre harrell wanted them to look like :takedat:.

and if some confrontational chit was to go down, you gotta go with the boston project niccas BBD, and throw bobby in there so we can get an even 4 on 4. niccas was so gully that their own crews were pulling guns on each other, on stage in the middle of their shows. not on no scripted chit, but on some real life chit.

Yeah Jodeci were those dudes. My sister used to work for a black newspaper back in the 90s and met them a number of times. Said they were mad friendly and cool.

Didn't Jodeci have beef with Boyz II Men? I remember an interview when Devante said "we'd never fukk with herbs like B2M. You'll never see us wearing bow ties". Something like that.

"fom the side, from behind, in your eye, however you want it" :gladbron:

man Jodeci is my FAVORITE male group from that era, silk, h-town, shai - them nikkas wasn't doing it like Jodeci. BIIM was cool, but they don't do it for me like Jodeci. I'd put Dru Hill and 112 in my number 2 and 3 spots over all those other groups

Jodeci was so piff. I never could vibe with KC & Jojo as a solo act. They were kinda corny to me. Goes to show u devante was the mastermind behind Jodeci. I wish they would have made more than 3 albums tho.

Jodeci's image was Puffy's as well as Mr. Dalvin's idea.

They were like BIIM but not anywhere as good. Without Devante and Mr. Dalvin K-Ci and Jojo wasn't wasn't great, they were more commercialized.

No other black entertainers were rocking them tatts before jodeci, r&b acts use to dress corny as hell, truly ahead of their time

JodeciBillboardAwards.jpg

There's an early interview of them on YouTube, even before they started with the tatts and baggy clothes, leather....where they talk about they dont want to be known as bad boys of R&B. and that they dont like that label b/c that's not them.

Sooo....either they really became that....or it was all just an image....

Either way, Devante Swings sound influenced R&B for the next 15-20 years...basically until this techno-pop era came in
