MAN, THIS IS MY FAVORITE JODECI TRACK. THEY SHOULDVE MADE A VIDEO FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!

MONUMENTAL VIDEO RIGHT HERE

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1qrVt_C8-M"]JODECI-COME AND TALK TO ME REMIX - YouTube[/ame]

Yeah Jodeci were those dudes. My sister used to work for a black newspaper back in the 90s and met them a number of times. Said they were mad friendly and cool.

Didn't Jodeci have beef with Boyz II Men? I remember an interview when Devante said "we'd never fukk with herbs like B2M. You'll never see us wearing bow ties". Something like that.

hot-diggaty-dam-dam. whos that in ur avi?

i dont know if there was a beef but i know that there was friendly competition between uptown and laface/arista.

"fom the side, from behind, in your eye, however you want it" :gladbron:

man Jodeci is my FAVORITE male group from that era, silk, h-town, shai - them nikkas wasn't doing it like Jodeci. BIIM was cool, but they don't do it for me like Jodeci. I'd put Dru Hill and 112 in my number 2 and 3 spots over all those other groups

people dont acknowledge that thru most of jodeci's run, there were alot of groups putting out better albums. also, i'll take h-town's "part time lover(granted, it was produced by devante), knockin da boots & silk's "lose control" over any jodeci song.

but jodeci was hittin us over the head nonstop with CLASSIC-CLASSIC SINGLES. that singles run is pretty much un-rivaled by anybody in modern-day r&b at least. hell, modern-day music period. and most of all, they had uptown records behind them all the way.

as far as dru hill & 112 go. nah. the late '90s were a step down from the early-mid '90s. dru hill had that classic debut tape tho. but 112 wouldve got lost in the shuffle if they came out a few years earlier than they did. btw, i'd take jagged edge over 112.

There's an early interview of them on YouTube, even before they started with the tatts and baggy clothes, leather....where they talk about they dont want to be known as bad boys of R&B. and that they dont like that label b/c that's not them.

Sooo....either they really became that....or it was all just an image....

Either way, Devante Swings sound influenced R&B for the next 15-20 years...basically until this techno-pop era came in

west coast turned them out, just like pac :jawalrus:

Its a shame our black people are trying to take soulless cac culture and contribute soulless music in it. Someone is actually letting talentless artists be the pioneers and the flagship artists for our culture. Frank Ocean would never be seen at the Apollo because his bytch ass would get booed off the stage for having zero singing ability. We have to do better yall and hold our music up to higher standards.

I feel you. I like Frank tho. He's in his lane. But I think the decline of r&b is due to the disconnection from the church. All the artists from the 90's and before all came from the church. You can hear it in their voice. They all started out singing gospel. And you know black churches take singing seriously. They dont play around when it comes to singing. You had to have a powerful voice in the black church. This is where they honed their talent. We dont have that anymore. Most artists now who start out in the church stay in gospel and dont make the transition to commercial r&b.

My favorite R&b group of all time. This nikka Devante is a beast. Crazy part is you can tell he was humble, cause he wasnt even trying to be the star of the own group he created.

whats wild is that the original version of the "lately" remake got x'd out by the unplugged version. i remember BET kept it alive for the remainder of the summer because they didnt play the unplugged version. i havnt seen it since. its been darn near 20 years. does anybody know what album they shot this video for? a compilation or something?

I remember thinking how beautiful Tboz and Mr. Dalvin's fake wedding was in Love U 4 Life, not comprehending they were a real couple.

KC and Jojo's voices was like the last version of real soulful male church singing. Even, though the were doing secular music.

A shame how drugs ruined Devante Swing.
