Funny because I don’t even think he writes his songs :skip:

He probably records just like YB does to me it’s ridiculous to call him one of the best song writers his hits have him repeating “Molly, Percocet” and “fukk up some commas” and his bars are all pretty elementary the best part is it be some fly talk sprinkled and his melodies but it’s nothing lyrically dexterous

Future got the voice, the vibe, the image, the beat selection, the masses fully bought into his persona he could say damn near anything and nikkas would eat it up

We had people writing music to be played by instruments, we had people writing songs layered with literary devices and coded meanings, I’m not putting Future in that category on what basis is he a great songwriter?

He wrote Beyoncé drunk in love

But why would he say that if he knows he's trash?:heh:
To be cool to a dude like you that defends each and every wave of wack music so he can seem trendy and young himself? :camby:

nikkas are PETRIFIED at the thought of being honest... they would pretend to like an autotuned A.I. if teenagers thought it was the shyt, just so nikkas wouldn't call them old. :heh: They're the worst kind of old nikkas- they're worse than the olheads who just blindly hate everything new, they're worse than the olheads who are legit in their midlife crisis phase... they just out here pretending to love any and everything because their biggest fear is not bein' accepted by kids :lolbron:

It's true.

Wasn't nobody talking about "The Chronic" or "Illmatic" was for "teens", nikka :heh:

And Nas & Snoop were actually teens when they were making that shyt :stopitslime:
Shyt like this is so easy to say 50 years later but punk was considered trash and talked about the same way self righteous cognitive dissonant nikkas talk about hip hop. That's why y'all points come off as :flabbynsick: and pretentious. Nikkas wasn't touting the political and artistic merits of punk in the 70s:mjlol: but y'all use revisionist history to bolster these baseless ass points that make you feel good about yourselves

Unless the time has passed you can't say what is or isn't a hair metal phase. The closest thing hip hop had to a hair metal phase was the mid to late 2000s snap/rockstar era because none of that shyt has stood the test of time. Invoking a current era as hair metal without the benefit of 10-30 years of assessment is disingenuous
That's not true.

The Clash & Sex Pistols were the toast of critics

"London Calling" was the album of the year when it came out in all the biggest newspapers and magazines.

The Ramones, Talking Heads, Television, Richard Hell, etc . . .

Did you have SOME arena rock types who hated it?

Sure, but to say that it was uniformly considered trash is just blatantly FALSE

Like I said, Hip-Hop is in it's "hair metal" phase (and has been for 20 years)

Where 90% of it is wack and will be considered wack in the future, as soon as something legitimate (i.e. Grunge) comes along and knocks it out of the frame
Same shyt use to be said to people that liked E-40, Cash Money, Tyler The Creator…

Music is art you can’t define a person that likes a certain artist music you don’t enjoy that’s just as ignorant as the people you hating on
E-40 is a genius who graduated from Grambling

Cash Money always got props, hence Jay-Z being on Juvenile's "400 Degreez"

Tyler The Creator's early work was adolescent nonsense.

As an adult, he's grown up and his music has, too.

It’s for breath control. It’s easier to one take songs sitting down. I think DeJ Loaf was the first to do it professionally but dudes with home studios and a bootleg copy of Cool Edit Pro been doing this for decades.

To me you can project your voice more standing up because your diaphragm can expand more.

I honestly try bruh . I don't want to be an old hater but all that Wayne influenced autotune punch in rap is ass to me.

Dude being a songwriter doesn’t mean you need to be literally penning records or using instruments to create music. Future a great songwriter because he consistently makes catchy hooks with great melodies all throughout his music.

Literally some of the greatest songs ever written are extremely popular catchy records with great melodies and fly production. That’s all songwriting really is. And “producing” the record is also part of the songwriting process and Future has had some of the best production over the past decade. I think he checks all the boxes of a great songwriter even tho he not my favourite rapper.
