You don't have to agree, but you won't just use these thought-terminating-cliches to eliminate dissent and avoid engaging me.

I'm laying out not only solutions, but rationale.

You have to respect that.
how can you be a "brother" and not think these youts deserve reimbursement? its beyond me

Yeah research labs get grants, my girlfriend is doing one this summer and getting paid pretty decently.
Grants and summer internships aren't the same

Which one is actually bringing in money to build half the shyt at these schools that people enjoy though? A debate team that brings a crowd of a few hundred every week, or a football game that brings a crowd of tens thousands? Debate teams aren't selling merchandise, aren't selling it stadiums, aren't getting 100,000 seat stadiums built.
so?

debate teams weren't in the pamphlets colleges mailed out when I was high school trying to get me to give them 20 grand a year.
So?

Athletes should get paid because they don't get the same opportunity the average student gets.
Free school?

Yeah, i'll say :mjlol:

They don't get to focus on their education to the extent that I do and more than likely will end up not going pro.
1. So take them out the class and pay them...but don't let them get degrees.

2. if they want degrees, they should EARN them. Academics either matter, or they don't.

3. Not everyone goes pro...and on top of free school, they want money because of how popular their sport is now? Laughable.

If they got paid, they could stash some money away to maybe return to school, later with that as their focus and be able to obtain a degree that will actually get them a productive job.
The time to focus was when they made the decision to play. Now they're gonna save up 50K a year? :heh: Yeah fukkin' right.

Return to school? :heh: You mean they wasted all those years? :dead:

Sounds like you don't even CARE about the UNIVERSITY...in the word...UNIVERSITY :dead:

You're just proving why I say they should go pro at any time.

because i'm a "brother" that went to school on academic merit and worked my black ass off knowing what I was given and made the most of it.

If you want the same opportunity, you better plan to do the same.

You wanna play football your 4 years? Fine. Do it. Live it up.

But when the ride stops, don't come looking for hand-outs when you didn't go pro.

We all have the same 24 hours. :sas2:

So we're gonna overlook the irony of track and field, swimming, golf, lacrosse, and other sports that aren't "black" or are we just gonna let you ramble on about the understanding of WTF a scholarship is?

Dumb smart nikka we know wtf a scholarship is...not a equal trade for some of these football and basketball players. These players who are making the school MILLION of dollars...foh.

In this capitalist system the ncaa is the only place an employer blatantly tells you, "I'll give you anything but money bytch! fukk round give a bytch money she might lose her mind." On some pimp game biz.

fukk that scholarship...give me my bread! And I'll finish school when I want plus set me and my family straight.

Blatant pimpin.

The school is getting a grant to pay students to participate in the lab with professors It's called undergraduate research.... but hey I'll let you tell me

you're just going to avoid my points about how they bring more to a school than you do.... OK

Didn't acknowledge the fact that they don't have the time to do the same things an average student gets.... OK

You act like it is beyond an athlete to save money.... OK

it'll be pretty hard to find an athlete here that can do all the training that they do and still find the time to study for a thermo exam but hey according to you they should just find time Between games, practices, and having to miss classes/office hours because of this.

An 18 year old can't go pro in football, their body isn't ready but you'll dismiss that

You just sound like a scorned person who is jealous that you aren't an athlete at this point.

Richard Sherman made a great point. For an athlete to pursue a quality degree that will set them up while balancing athletics would damn near kill somebody. I'm struggling with just a 15 hour course load, couldn't imagine juggling that with practice and games.

I couldnt even do 12 bruh :laff:

I don't care if they make the school $50.

They're getting paid to go to school and have no financial obligations...and to ask them to be paid is absurd on account of a few sports that make the school money.

In fact, they only reason they have scholarships is because of the cycle of money brought in, in the first fukkin' place.

IF you wanna set your family straight, go to class instead of majoring in bullshyt.

I know tons of D1 athletes who didn't blow that shyt.

Thing is, your academic studies weren't GENERATING millions of dollars! These athletes are. This America...you're supposed to be fairly compensated for your work.

Why should that athletes revenue he generated be taken from him on some :smugfavre: "Thanks for making the staff millionaires. Now here's a scholarship so you can graduate and maybe start out at 40k."

That's :troll: all day...

Undergrad students rarely get paid and if they do its out of the grant (often not from the university...completely different.)

you're just going to avoid my points about how they bring more to a school than you do.... OK
I don't care if they bring in billions.

If you wanna get paid, go pro.

Didn't acknowledge the fact that they don't have the time to do the same things an average student gets.... OK
Then make a choice. Dont blow your scholarship

OR

Change the rules:

You wanna be paid: You don't get a degree.

You act like it is beyond an athlete to save money.... OK
Do you know how much money an athlete would have to make in college to then go back and AFFORD college? :dead:

You're ddudes are riding these football players NUTS man :dead:

it'll be pretty hard to find an athlete here that can do all the training that they do and still find the time to study for a thermo exam but hey according to you they should just find time Between games, practices, and having to miss classes/office hours because of this.
Its not my problem, is it?

Cause money isn't going to give you more time in the day

Can't have it both ways

You just sound like a scorned person who is jealous that you aren't an athlete at this point.

Fine.

Dont give these athletes scholarships.

Give them an option:

A. You get a scholarship and the chance to earn a degree, but you don't get paid

B. You don't get a scholarship and lose the chance to get a degree, but you get paid and a certificate saying you completed a university sports program.

Thats it.

Again, you're telling me what's happening at my school.

Just admit it, you're mad that someone else deserves something more than you because that's what it sounds like at this point. Just because you're in some STEM program, doesn't mean the world should bend over for you. You honestly sound like all the stuck up CaCs and shyt in all class preaching I'm an engineer, I'm the shyt and you're under me.

You just dismiss that an 18 year can't go pro in football because they physically aren't ready, but that's your solution, get over yourself you don't know everything.

:snoop:

My man you're missing the point. You're a fan of Tariq so let me help you. You're falling for that oke doke.

Just as the beef with slavery isn't revenge, the beef now is WHERE THE fukk IS THE MONEY that was earned from the sweat of our ancestors????!!!!!!!!

It's always about the MONEY!

These coaches and staff are building generational wealth from the sweat of these athletes in exchange for a scholarship. GTFOH....give me what I earned...This America.

You go to school for an education so you can enter a field and make money. Start out at 40k, but these athletes are generating money, millions, from day one.

We all know the real answer is, sports such as college football should be removed from colleges and made a minor league. Where the athletes are paid. The schools won't do this because they will lose millions of slave dollars.

They're earning millions of dollars from the sweat of athletes who they KNOW...will not use that degree to become successful. So basically, they are getting million while the athlete who has no interest in corporate endeavors ends up with donut.

That's fukkery...and students such as yourself...through jealousy condone this.
