For fukks sake we're using video game evidence now? This thread is deteriorating fast.

BTW, good fighters don't just attempt takedowns out of the blue. They go for it when they see that their opponent is off balance. And wrestling isn't Jones's only tool. He's also a Muay Thai fighter.

Fighters set up takedowns when they are facing opponents with sufficient takedown defence, something that Tyson lacks. Jones doesn't need to set up anything becuase either way, I doubt Tyson's stopping the inevitable takedown.

in a pissy low lit project stairwell in Flatbush, do you really think that Jon Jones is gonna have a chance?

aint no judges scoring takedowns, or any MMA cat not getting lit up trying to get close enough for a takedown

Tyson has him by 30 lbs, and hits harder than any MMA fighter.... and was grew up fighting in the streets

Tyson woulda snuffed him while high off angel dust to the Fu Schnickens playing faintly from the apartment down the hall.

The second Tyson gets put on his back with Jones on top, he's pretty much done. Jones would choke him till he's unconscious. I'm pretty sure Tyson has never defended a choke [or a takedown for that matter] in his whole life, so him getting put to sleep [by sub] is very likely.

:snoop: You gonna stop one of the best wrestler in MMA? Especially when you never trained too?

People who have been pretty much wrestling their whole lives [this includes NCAA all-americans] were unable to stop a Jones takedown, but Mike Tyson is going to?

Jones takes Tyson down and elbows his head into the pavement before Tyson can do anything. Tyson has a punchers chance but that's it

Pretty much this.

Pretty much this.

But we talking about a street fight. There is nobody ringing a bell to say when to begin fighting, there is no squaring up from 8 to 10 feet away and closing the distance to begin the fight. We talking bout two nikkas arguing, possibly in each others' faces, and a fight breaking out. In THAT situation, with Tyson being a much more volatile personality, I'm betting Tyson hits Jones first and that's all it will take for him to take advantage and win the fight. However, I will give you that if Jones somehow gets a chance to wrap up Tyson or get him in a clinch then he'll win. But I don't see that being easy to do against Tyson, who can throw from any angle, has incredible feet, and who is known for his uppercut.

Again, in a ring, or in a situation in which Jon Jones can set up a takedown, he's gonna win. But a street fight is much different from a sanctioned competition. MMA fighters have lost in street fights before to regular ass dudes, it is documented. Now Jon Jones ain't no regular nikka but neither is Tyson...the difference is Tyson has been street fighting his whole life, which is a whole different animal and set of emotions and circumstances. And in a street fight, I'm taking Tyson 8 times out of 10.

Again, why do you cats assume all he can do is wrestle? Jones would keep the fight at a arm's length and use his Muay Thai to keep it that way.

This is another possibility, but I doubt Jones would keep the fight standing. If the fight remains standing, there is a much higher possibility of Tyson landing something significant.

Basically, what it boils down to is if Jones can safely close the distance to take Tyson down without getting hit in his face/head. A prime Mike Tyson's footwork, strength, and speed would, imo, make that very difficult.

Plus Tyson is just fukking crazy.

Its hilarious you think Jones has absolute control over where and how the fight takes place.

Its amazing we're going to assume the much, much, much stronger fighter is completely powerless.

I always assumed this thread was asking 'if you took Jones and Tyson and put them out on the streets and told them to fight, who would win?'. In this case Jones would be expecting Tyson's strikes.

When has professional MMA fighters lost to regular people? Never heard of this. Also, no amount of footwork is going to really help you stop a takedown from arguably the best wrestler in MMA.

I'm not saying Tyson is powerless, his power lies in his hands. This same power is not going to be very helpful when Jones grabs a hold of him.

Wrestling is all about controlling your opponent. Jones is an elite wrestler, while Tyson has never wrestled in his life [to my knowledge], I think it's safe to assume Jones dictates where the fight takes place.

It been known that Tyson main reason for losing was his opponent had better reach. Tyson my dude but Jones would be toying with this nikka.

This is a STREET FIGHT...not in a cage, a ring or any of that shyt....no judges scoring the fight or refs

Mike Tyson grew up in the streets, fighting nikkas bigger than him..and is legit batshyt crazy..

Jon Jones would look like one of them nikkas on worldstar getting whooped til Tyson got tired

why dont you get that?

Fighting random people on the street is not going to help you against a fighter the caliber of Jones.

Why don't you get that Jones is likely going to put Tyson on his back and the second that happens, his chances decrease dramatically.
