The NBA is the only sport that has had to deal with COVID for three of it’s seasons and a lot of the people that write for it I’ve come to the conclusion that they are racist. They might’ve always been racist but 2010 picked it up a lot.
Add in ESPN hiring then firing a lot of them it adds to it. ESPN knows that certain regions have history and with that history you have story tellers in the late 90’s think about basketball just for this you had an entire media industrial complex in Chicago, close by was Detroit, closer to the west Los Angeles, out east New York ,Boston, and DC with people from there reporting and journaling. ESPN hired them for legitimacy and their offspring were arrogant. When the Lakers rose again ESPN sent people there then once they fell off print media fell off too. But local was still local when Lebron left to Miami ESPN hired a lot of people from Cleveland and moved them to Ohio there was a bunch “left behind” and Cleveland lost like 500 million dollars over night. This was also during the recession then when Bron left a lot of those new Miami cats had to go back to Cleveland. ESPN invested in Miami made shows with Miami people on TV in addition to radio and print. After this the Warriors came to be and around them what happened they moved across the river built a billion dollar arena priced out the locals. Early in ESPN invested similar to Miami but the Bay Area had what Silicone Valley. Those people got priced out quicker and became jaded. (I imagine this had to have happened in Seattle when the Sonics moved)

The NBA has international companies involved and is one as well so much money is coming in that the cap jumps to 94 million in 2016 when in 2010 it was 58 million. Now it’s 112 million. Kobe last year was 25 million we all knew that number and it took him 20 years to get that. The next year Blake Griffin of the Clippers signs a five year 172.2 million dollar contract that’s paying 29.5 Million the first year he’s not Kobe. The NBA has no small markets it’s a myth when Donald Sterling owned the Clippers he was spending less than other teams and still making profit because the league gets so much money off revenue that’s divided that it pays itself without over spending and now that the luxury tax is frequent where is this extra money going if not into the league and it’s projects like the WNBA and other programs.
I bring that up to mention this the owners made a Rose rule where a guy could get paid more earlier of he hit certain things like Allstar,all NBA, or MVP earlier and in a way that would make them stay with their team longer because the league already had it if you stayed with your team longer you get paid more and this is before “Bird” rules where a team can go over the cap to re-sign someone who has been on the team three years (over time the league had shortened contracts) but most players come into the league on a four year deal that after four years the team can match any offer so mot real free agency so since that usually gets matched they then get a three year extension that boots their pay a lot but it gets boosted more once a player reached ten years in the league. Seven years a what ever team drafted you if they ain’t trade you. Because of the gap in years which they entered the league rule changes made in spite of Bron affected KD because he’s always been the best player four years after Bron. Four to five years is a good gap between tiers of players in addition to the age they enter the league because older players entering are punished and players entering earlier have more time to make more. Like Kobe is only four years older than Wade but there’s a seven year gap between the start of their careers where you could argue that the moment rookie Wade stepped on the court against Kobe in 2003 that Kobe with his three rings was already a first ballot hall of famer.

A contending team gets more attention everywhere and what happens is those guys get overpaid. Amazingly every team has guys with a expiring contract then they get “over paid”. Certain guys are loved until they are hated and the hate moves like Kyrie(People hate him for getting traded to Boston then hated him for getting hurt and not sitting on the bench in Boston before he even said that I’ll be back if y’all let me shyt). Bron and KD want to maximize winning and they know how the game goes so once they leave the old team and their media can relish in the hate on them while they are on a new contender because any team they on is a contender. This has the amazing effect of guys getting boosted into more money as the media tries to spite KD and Bron out of awards the media picks all star game bench replacements, All NBA teams(there used to just be two now there’s three of them and they can put Lebron as a PG one year then SF or PF the next. There is also an all-rookie team, all defense team, and more)
Black people were being asked about what was going on daily and something we knew by all people by white people. Nobody wants to hear that shyt after a while.
