FULL article from the Chicago Tribune from the day after the Bulls swept the Pistons. Includes quotes from the parties mentioned

Like I've always said, when/if you embrace the bad guy role, you also embrace everything that comes with it. Don't embrace it and then complain about the repercussions.

For the record, I think Dumars and John Salley congratulated the team that beat them, and didn't run like b*tches. Even though they heard the same comments that MJ said about their team's style of play.
The Celtics didn’t bytch like this after they beat the Pistons. They settled it on the court. Prior to this, nobody bytched to the commissioner and then in the media. So you saying this is senseless because the bulls were literally acting brand new.

Jordan stans are obsessed with rings so I don’t see how the criteria should change now.
Larry Bird called MJ the greatest as early as 1985, absolutely in no way was Zeke considered ahead of MJ as a player or accolades after 1991. He was already considered the greatest of all time at this point by many

Zeke said it before he won a title too

I long said on this site that MJ was considered the goat before he even won a ship.

It’s still wild to me that two months into his career, hewas good enough to be mentioned on Kurtis blow’s “basketball.”

Jordan had 5 straight scoring titles, 2 MVPs, DPOY, 5 straight 1st team all pros, 5 straight 1st team defense and coming off his first first title

he passed Zeke by point

Bro, that's irrelevant. Take the Jordan glasses off (I love Jordan by the way). As the other poster said, Isiah had two championships by that point and three finals appearances. He was too accomplished to not be on that team when you had some dudes on there who had nowhere near the same accolades. That's like leaving Hakeem off the 1996 Olympics because Shaq didn't like him. Both Jordan and Isiah were childish/petty to each other. Isiah by not shaking his hand and Jordan using his power to keep Isiah off the team.

The sad part is had those two nikkas been forced to play together on the Dream Team, they would've gotten over their beef :smh:

Jordan is one of those dudes that can't forgive no matter how many times you extend an olive branch.

Pistons denied him too many times and were playing dirty. It's like Jeezy and Gucci being friends. Or a BD and a GD trying to be friends.

You woulda had to lock them nikkas in a room together and hope they hash it out.

I never said Isaiah didn’t have the resume to be on the team. I simply was responding to a post that said his resume was ahead of Jordan’s. At this point, it wasn’t. I agree, it’s a shame they haven’t been able to mend fences.

It’s not like he omitted a starting player. Omitting a headache from the bench is kinda reasonable. Also was he even really rated that much higher than Stockton in 92 that it would be wild if it wasn’t for the rivalry? :jbhmm:

End of the day it’s a team sport, team dynamic is just as important as talent.

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again

Isiah should have everlasting beef with MJ just based off the fact MJ kept him off the Dream Team. Yes, I understand WHY MJ did it and I also understand nobody, even Chuck Daily, fought FOR Isaiah either. But MJ decided when that Pistons team didn’t shake hands that it was forever beef and Isiah should keep that same energy.

Like for what reason would Isiah really want to be friends with MJ or even Magic like that going on thirty years later? Isaiah made the 50 Greatest Players list. Isaiah made the 75 Greatest Players list. Isaiah kicked MJ’s AND Magic’s asses in their primes AND did it without another top 50/75 player running beside him. Isiah has the bragging rights and will go down in history as a top 5 point guard. MJ can’t black ball Isiah from too much of anything important league wise. Neither can Magic. So what validation does being cool with them gain him? If I were Isiah it’d honestly be fukk BOTH of them just like it was on the court in the 80’s.

MJ can’t do a career retrospective without mentioning Isiah and the Bad Boys and the “Jordan Rules” as their ultimate foe. Magic can’t do a career retrospective without mentioning that SWEEP Isiah and The Bad Boys gave him in 89. They don’t need to be friends or cordial to show respect for one another’s legacies

:snoop: Isiah never “kicked Magic’s ass”. Magic played one full game in the 89 finals. What would Zeke gain from bragging about that? And he didn’t even win Finals MVP Dumars did. He’d be better off bragging about 88.

I missed the 80's NBA discourse in real time, but in what universe is someone who wins MVP & DPOY in the same year not considered the best player? :mjlol:

On the extended version, when him and his friends were talking about basketball players from back in the days and in the current, one of those dudes said “yo man… That Michael Jordan man!!”

He was only a month into his NBA career.

Ok lets say Magic’s injury prevents full bragging rights on Isiah’s part for that series. Isiah still got the Chip. His team beat the Celtics, Bulls, and Lakers on they’re way to the Chip. Isiah has THAT bragging right and he and ONLY he as the leader of the team has that notch under his belt.

Isiah don’t need to be friends with MJ or Magic to be considered one of the greatest players of all time and a top 5 player of the 80’s. His exclusion from the Dream Team is universally considered an egregious snub, MJ or Magic admitting that it was changes nothing. Isiah really gains nothing from being cool with them so its best he live with that fact and move on. He can say “fukk both of them” and back up that stance with the fact all three are inextricably linked to one another, both triumphs and losses.
