I was only referring to the comment about feeding the children; not clothing, etc.

Children should have 3 healthy meals and snacks everyday. (Fresh fruits nuts cheese yogurt etc)
Food prices are insane in nyc, healthy and fresh food is more expensive everywhere.

I don't know how things are outside of Ohio, but here we have monthly Food Banks/Pantries where you can get stuff that was donated from Wealthy People (nice snacks from Whole Foods/Trader Joes), extra Pizza's from Little Caesars, food with faulty packaging (if something falls off a shelf, supermarket sends it to the food bank), and meat/produce nearing expiration date (doesn't really make a difference since it will be put in freezer).

Alot of Single Moms go to 5-10 different pantries, and sell the $500 from their EBT card to fund Liquor/Weed binges.

i feel for the OP....

I was there for my son from the beginning signed the birth certificate right there at the hospital...had my girl living with me

took on a extra job as a contractor to pay off my debts to get a bigger place and support my family

because i happened to have subcontracted alot of work for the city...i was able to get a hookup on some government housing

helped get her a nice section 8 apartment in the suburbs where all she had to pay was 85 bucks a month for rent....


the plan was for it to be TEMPORARY....the following year i had plan to marry her with money i saved for us to move OUT OF SECTION 8 into a OUR OWN HOME.... so much for that plan

im sending her money for her place ....while im on the road busting my azz to work..

she didnt work always had an excuse....and when she eventually decided to go to school she wound up on academic probation (failure)

so i guess somebody taught her the "game" ...and when i arrived home from working out of town, she decides to start these crazy off the wall arguments and shyt .....just giving me hell.....not to mention she was stepping out on me

so finally she says she want's to breakup..i was like cool...we wasnt getting along ..and it wasn't healty for us or the baby

come to find out this was a GAME!!!.....the byatch NEVER had her own place prior to me....

so that place she got and the bread she was getting from me was a comeup

so now that we broke up ....not less than a week later I GET SERVED WITH CHILD SUPPORT PAPERS....

i go to pick up my son now..and she still ain't working .....balling out at at the mall and done moved a new boyfriend in the aparment i hooked her up with ....

yet SHE COULDN'T AFFORD THE COPAY AT THE DOCTOR'S VISIT FOR MY SON

and the utilities!!!...all she had to pay was 85 bucks for rent...yet my azz had to pay the electricity bill cause god knows what she did with her child support money

meanwhile my black azz.....struggling to pay 645 dollars for one child (live in georgia and have a kid with a woman on assistance breh)...ONE DAMN CHILD YALL!

had to leave my apartment......work 7 days a week.....and move into a fukking rooming house....living off raman noodles and value meals from fast food restaurants..

fearing that if i didn't make a payment I COULD HAVE MY LICENSE SUSPENDED OR FIND MYSELF IN JAIL..

I always assume the people thinking it takes an exorbitant amount of money to raise a kid don't actually have kids. Not every situation is the same, and yea you can spend a lot if you feel your kids deserves the most expensive(which is not always better) choice every time. In real life, in Texas, most women that receive child support also do not have to pay full cost for daycare. Also its support, the non custodial shouldn't be responsible for 100% of the cost for the kid when the kid is primarily in the custodials possession, in those cases the kid should just go to the non custodial since that person also has their own cost associated to taking care of the kid as well. Why should they have to pay double?
