i'm not even blaming the coaching for the past few games. i'm actually happy that hassan is getting more 4th quarter minutes. but no matter how much talent we get, spo will always be a terrible coach. just gotta thank god the big 3 was good enough to win in spite of this clown.

and I never thought we could win the title this season. the warriors are too strong for anybody right now. but at full potential we can definitely come out the east. we got the defense and matchups to give the cavs serious problems.
On the real there's absolutely no way we could beat a healthy Cavs squad in a series.

I just think people in here came into the season thinking we were better than we were....

Maybe if we had had Wade Deng and Bosh in their prime we'd be a PROBLEM.

To win a championship you need a MVP candidate a 33/34 year old Wade is not that

well shyt, we're better defensively without hassan....lets just bench his ass the whole game then:yeshrug:........and why do you just choose to look at defense?....why not look at the whole picture?.....hassan is 8th in the league in PER.....that's overall impact....not just one side of the court. the next best on our team is chris bosh, and he's 27. wade isn't even in the top 30. and that's pretty shocking considering wade is ALWAYS in the top 10 in PER. hassan is up there with the likes of steph curry, lebron, russel westbrook, and kevin durant. again....this is overall impact. so I could give a fukk if we give up a few extra points with hassan in the game. because overall we're much more dangerous with hassan on the floor. we don't even gotta look at stats, we can watch the game and see it clear as day. the main problem with those defensive numbers with hassan on/off the floor is that it's not all on hassan. it's on the entire team. when hassan is out there they expect him to do EVERYTHING....block shots, get rebounds, weak side help. when he's off the floor, they know they actually have to D the fukk up. loul deng and josh mcroberts admitted to this a couple weeks ago. that when hassan off the floor their whole attitude changes. they close out on guards and play more aggressive, but when he's out there they tend to gamble more because they know hassan is there to bail em out.

EDIT: found it.....

“It helps to have Whiteside there behind you. That’s kind of the safety. You know you can gamble a little bit and he’s right there behind you. You don’t have to foul, and you can kind of get a little bit out of position.” -
Josh McRoberts

“When we go with a smaller lineup, you see more trapping. We’re playing faster. When Hassan is in the game, we want to take away the jump shots and kind of force guys to drive into him.”- Loul Deng

So, maybe that contributes to the defensive numbers getting worse with Whiteside on the floor. Maybe Heat players see the flashy denials behind them and overestimate the help they have in Whiteside. Maybe they’re putting just a bit too much of the burden on him.

and that last sentence is right on the money. these guys need to keep up that intensity when hassan is on the floor and stop expecting him to clean up everybody's mess. when you got guys admitting they purposely gamble and get out of position because hassan is behind them, that's a team issue, not a hassan issue. but regardless of the the defensive numbers, hassan impacts the game more than anybody on our team. that's undeniable. it's a very real possibility that hassan could be the only guy on the team to be an all star this season. and truthfully, nobody else deserves it more than him:yeshrug:

It’s not an either-or thing. Matchups dictate lineups. Sometimes we’ll impose our lineup on other teams, sometimes we’ll adjust to theirs. I’m not only focusing on defense, but that’s what he brings most to the table. Let’s face it, he’s not great offensively just yet. When he’s not catching alleys he struggles a little bit. Especially with getting the ball stripped down low. Also, let’s not forget that our star PG felt that he was clogging up the lane for him too. I don’t know if that means that he wasn’t rotating properly or what, but I’m sure the coaching staff knows what that was about and they seem to have fixed it cause it hasn’t come up again.

Maybe Hassan isn’t rotating in a timely manner defensively. Maybe he doesn’t grasp the D quite yet. SBNation did an in-depth piece on why the Heat are better defensively w/o him on the court than with him there. Google: “why the Heat are better defensively without the NBA’s best shot-blocker on the court”

He’s turned the corner recently and that’s why Spo is trusting him more. But know that he wasn’t being played earlier in the year for a reason. And also know that you don’t know more about Hassan’s impact on the team than the coaching staff.

As comprised, if the Heat are a top 3 seed and reach the conference finals they’d have lived up to, and maybe exceeded realistic expectations.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Miami Heat’s depth might be a mirage

Start here:

McRoberts does more of his sweating during rehabilitation than as part of the rotation.

It’s become clear, after the first 17 months of his Heat tenure, that he can’t be counted on to remain healthy. The toe. The back. The knee. Now the knee again...

Spoelstra has continued to plug Haslem in for McRoberts ahead of three other potential options: veterans Amar’e Stoudemire and Chris Andersen, and youngster Jarnell Stokes...

Stokes, according to scouts, isn’t much more than an energy player at this level, at this time. Andersen, who still might serve a shot-blocking purpose, remains on the trading block, another potential luxury tax casualty.

Stoudemire? His situation is more mysterious. Signed to a one-year minimum deal, he said he feels “really good at this point, I feel strong enough to contribute if needed, but while these guys are playing well I’m just going to continue to get stronger and stronger. So when it’s time, I’ll be ready to go.”

He played on Sept. 30, then 20 days later, then 22 days later.

By that pattern, you’ll need to catch him on Jan. 4 against Indiana.

The backcourt? Well, that’s not looking especially deep now either, even after Udrih — acquired for former starter Mario Chalmers — was effective Tuesday, recording 14 points, six assists and a plus-12 in 34 minutes.

Richardson, however, mostly struggled again and is a minus-48 in 120 minutes; for all his defensive tenacity, he simply isn’t polished enough offensively to contribute consistently.

That matters now that Johnson has missed six full games, and half of another, with an acute flare-up of a college shoulder injury; he’ll see where he stands after Thursday’s practice, but it should be concerning that one of the team’s toughest players was held out even with Dragic sitting. That situation could linger throughout the season.

Dragic’s may pass more quickly — or, at least, the Heat hopes so. He’s been playing with a sore right thumb but couldn’t with swelling in his left wrist. Neither an X-ray nor MRI showed structural damage, and yet …

“Nobody knows how long this will be,” Dragic said.

Can’t be too long. Because, suddenly, that bench is looking short.

Why would we keep getting players that Thibs ran into the ground? I really like Noah though. He is going to be an underrated pickup as a free agent next year.
Gibson is still good tho. :dwillhuh: Plus both of them are better then McBob.

If you wanna turn this into some type of genius chess move by spo, that's on you:yeshrug:......all I see is spo being forced to swallow his pride and hassan performing exactly like we knew he could....not on a hunch, but because we've actually seen him do it before. This change happened immediately after he benched hassan vs the raptors and they ran layups drills on us to an easy victory, Leaving heat and raps fans completely baffled to his stupidity. But shyt, better late than never I guess. Convicing spo to use some common sense hasn't been easy.

We don't have the assets though. Who we trading for them though? Urdih? Birdman? Season tickets and a couple heat dancers?

Check this out

But when it comes to using intelligence and instincts to deter opponents, Whiteside has struggled. Sometimes, he's glued to no-man's land and out of position.

Other times, he's just slow to react.

scola_layup_v_whiteside_contest.0.gif

Opponents are shooting just 45 percent on shots he defends at the rim, per NBA.com. That's a great number. The problem is that Whiteside, whether due to inexperience, concentration or disinclination, often fails to get to the spots where he can actually challenge shooters.

That's highlights from that same Toronto game you're talking about.

The coaches kept seeing him mess up, breh. We don't notice but they do.

Read the article, cause after that Hassan really decided to focus more on his job

blame hassan for Bosh getting roasted by Luis fukking Scola brehs.

heres the thing too many heat fans seem to not recognize. Whiteside hasn't even played a full 82 NBA games yet...I mean overrall...he hasn't even played a full seasons worth of games yet. so yeah, he's still learning man. he's also being paid 900k a year...he damn sure is worth more than that. so if he fukks up here or there...I'm ok with it.
